My son is starting school next week and I can't escape the 'wise words' on Facebook and other social media about how I'll be handing over my baby.

One particular one said about how my baby will no longer be truly mine ever again!

I really don't see it like that but these type of things do make me feel rather crappy and unnecessarily emotional.

What's the point of them and AIBU to hate them?

You can escape them, though! Stop using Facebook.

I saw that exact poem today and had trouble keeping my breakfast down.

They actually make me think those people are a little bit sad and limited. The kid is going to school for 6 hrs a day, not going on the slow boat to the new world, never to be seen again

I'm going to do my own one.

I think you need new FB friends, none of mine post that sort of shit. Mine are more likely to post that they're glad the kids have gone back as they've been horrible all summer.

Don't go on fb, it gets worse on the first day, it ruined my dd starting school as they made me feel so sad how wrong I was

If that bullshit makes you feel crappy than you are part of the target audience.

You have a choice and there are things you can do to limit your exposure to this crap, not doing so is a choice.
