Not a thread about a thread but i suppose several? I do appreciate the demographic of mumsnet is unlikely to be people of lower socio economic class and lower education levels but there really is a very daily mail feel about mumsnet atm in some of the views ive been here about 8 years on and off and its more noticeable now? I'll give myself a biscuit but i get influxed Biscuit

The oddest thing is people equating a basic tabloid with the middle classes and then equating the stuff that the DM churns out with MN. The only real correlation between the DM and MN is that the worst examples of lying trolly made up for the lolz threads end up in there.
If you think MN is middle class now, you should have been around 10 or so years ago. It really was veering that way then, but no way is it now. Not after PB etc.

I have rarely seen poor-bashing on MN tbh. The opposite really when you consider all the scammers who have the liberal do-gooders immediately reaching for the PayPal password. Those threads always start with a sob story about a tub of margarine, no nappies, a feckless partner and the rent overdue. If MN really were classist and bashed the poverty stricken the trolls pretending to be poor would go elsewhere.

When there are genuine threads from people in need, there's now't so generous as your common or garden MNer. And I doubt she reads the Mail tbh.

HelenaDove · 30/08/2017 19:25

Perfume there is plenty if it on here On the thread ive just linked. On the housing association threads there is a lot of it and the threads about weight.

Eolian · 30/08/2017 19:41

The dictionary certainly thinks there's such a thing as classism.

Photomummy16 · 30/08/2017 19:46

Is it MN as a whole you mean, or is it the AIBU board, anyway?

WipsGlitter · 30/08/2017 19:50

I've noticed some very sharp posters recently. Really rude.

The whole Mumsnet is middle class thing bemuses me as a lot of what I see sounds like the poster is working class. Not that I care.

There is such a thing as a social hierarchy. Your social class correlates with your level of intelligence.

The lower classes live more animalistic by nature. Nothing wrong with some social divides.

PortiaCastis · 30/08/2017 19:59

By God the snobbery is incredible on here

Walkingdead11 · 30/08/2017 20:01

honeycreeper.....is that irony?

I duno but I've learnt only lower class are fat as are their kids Hmm

TBH if I was middle class and above I wouldn't be here, the nanny would be putting kids to bed whilst I be just finishing yoga about now, wondering if to pop to Waitrose before go have cheeky cocktail

PortiaCastis · 30/08/2017 20:06

Wonder if BoJos kids are fat???

KweenOfFarts · 30/08/2017 20:08

Oh that explains why poor are uneducated @honey I just thought us mere humble peasants was lazy arses. Threads are so englighting these days sometimes get it all just in the one Grin

Opah · 30/08/2017 20:11

Just a social construct....blah, blah, blah.

Getout21 · 30/08/2017 20:13

Witches So true also add the high percentage of people who will be mortgage free by late 30s & people living off investments. They achieved this by working really hard. 😉

nina2b · 30/08/2017 20:27

Enlighting? Huh?

HalfShellHero · 30/08/2017 21:03

What i mean is ive noticed a very right wing intolerant looking down on others tone here recently, when it comes to issues that include stereotypically lower class families.

Witches I agree but I bet your post will be deleted.

midnightmisssuki · 30/08/2017 21:08

errrr - bit of a goady thread to start OP? Confused

MissAlabamaWhitman · 30/08/2017 21:12

You're not allowed to be WC on here, or more precisely WC with a modicum of intelligence and the ability to effectively articulate an opinion.

Oh no, if you can hold your own throughout a discourse then you necessarily must be MC despite all evidence to the contrary.

MN is somewhat of a MC echo chamber so far as self satisfied, unabashed self aggrandisement goes.

HalfShellHero · 30/08/2017 21:13

I dont think so i cant abide snobbery towards people who are just trying to get by in life, and either have to buy cheaply ir go without when youve had a silver spoon firmly wedged up both orifices most of their life Grin and the casual disabilism on here ties in with that too sadly SadAngry

HalfShellHero · 30/08/2017 21:13

MissAlabama Grin very true

PortiaCastis · 30/08/2017 21:20

Ah some folk are so far up their own arses they need anal Listerine.

scrabbler3 · 30/08/2017 21:21

I find the Facebook tat selling threads quite difficult. Behind the derided item there is probably a low-income mum who can't find a school-hours job so has to resort to that. Those threads feel mean and sneery.

Bluntness100 · 30/08/2017 21:21

And I've noticed a very left wing looking down on others when it comes to the middle classes.

Oh and I can't stand inverse snobbery. You know the kind. Like this shit.

when youve had a silver spoon firmly wedged up both orifices most of their life

Suggest you take the chip off your shoulder.
