To ask why I'm not skinny yet?

I've been eating healthily for TWO WHOLE WEEKS. I mean I know I have about 60lb to lose, but two WHOLE weeks. How bloody long is this going to take?! Wink

OP posts:
KingLooieCatz · 30/08/2017 16:54

Scampimom made me laugh too.

But seriously, 2lbs a week is a good, steady, sustainable rate.

Just you wait till people start commenting and your clothes are too big, and you get into stuff you haven't worn for years. BUZZ! Trying on skinny jeans and think "I actually look quite good in these" even if you don't want to wear them. If you restrict your diet too much there is a risk it all goes back on again later because you haven't developed habits that you can stick to long term.

High points on the weight loss journey:
Me: Excuse me, do you have this in a size 10?
Lady on till: You're so lucky.
Me: It's not luck it's Slimming World.

BitOutOfPractice · 30/08/2017 16:55

I've eaten well, exercised and had a big poo today. I should look like Kate Moss by rights by teatime

JennyOnAPlate · 30/08/2017 17:09

Oh I hear you op. I've been eating healthily for ten days now and I'm still a size 20. I'm sure I should be fitting into at least a 14 by now Angry

It's very daunting when you have a lot to lose.

oldlaundbooth · 30/08/2017 17:12

It's taken me since January to lose 20 pounds.

Fucking relentless.

FreeSpiritJen · 30/08/2017 17:17

PMSL at some of these posts. Grin

OP well done for losing almost half a stone. Keep it up. Smile

scampimom · 30/08/2017 17:18

Can't help thinking that it would be quicker to amputate something...

ikeadyounot · 30/08/2017 17:20

I get the whole 'build muscle' argument - and, let's face it, it looks cool aesthetically - but I think if you do intensive aerobic exercise you not only tend to burn more calories but you raise your metabolism for hours longer than the duration of the exercise (the "afterburn"). It may just be the way I'm built, but I've found this way more effective in weight loss than the gain of basal metabolic rate you get from additional muscle, and I have tried both. I think that, whatever you do, for the vast majority of people being honest and realistic about how hard you're exercising, and eating less each day than what you burn in exercise and at rest, is unlikely to fail.

Notsoyummi · 30/08/2017 17:24

I hear ya I've cut out snacks altogether absolutely famished by bed time almost a week now haven't lost anything. My sister works in the gym she says don't weigh yourslf everyday.

Sunbittern · 30/08/2017 17:46

.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/08/2017 20:59

I'm actually planning on getting a haircut. Fairly sure my hair must weigh two or three stone.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 30/08/2017 21:34

I check myself in the mirror at the gym every time I get off the stepper/rower/bike, sweaty, red-faced and knackered, convinced that I must NOW surely be skinny! I am always disappointed!

cocktailismyfavouritefilm · 30/08/2017 23:31

First day of eating healthily, I look in the mirror, or at my DH, and say 'Am I skinny yet?'

If only it were that easy!!Grin

MrsFrisbyMouse · 31/08/2017 09:45

I blame the mirrors personally.
They seem to add 20kg every time I just look at one, even if it's just a sneaky glance.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 31/08/2017 09:47

And my phone front camera does a sneaky line in extra chins.

Dontlaugh · 31/08/2017 10:15

(BTW @dontlaugh, there's no point NCing if you're going to make yourself so recognisable )

I haven't namechanged!

Dontlaugh · 31/08/2017 10:16

Sorry that was to serfterf Smile

ragz134 · 31/08/2017 10:22

Whoever said 10lbs is a dress size - that really depends on height and shape. I have lost 36lbs this year but only 2 dress sizes! I'm still not thin... It really slows down after a while! First month I lost a stone (did blood sugar diet for 3 weeks then low carb), it has really slowed since. Here's my graph of weights for the last year.

To ask why I'm not skinny yet?
RebeccaCloud9 · 31/08/2017 10:34

Take loads of photos now before you lose any more. I really avoided having my photo taken at my largest but wish I'd got more comparison photos now as a confidence boost. I've also set myself mini targets (with rewards e.g. hair do, new face mask) all the way through with a date to aim for each target. It's helped keep me on track without it being daunting. (I've lost nearly 4 stone and still got 1.5 stone to go.)

JudgeRulesNutterButter · 31/08/2017 10:41

I feel you OP. And on a tangent, I'll add "I shopped around for car insurance yesterday and I'm STILL NOT A MILLIONAIRE YET Angry".

Mollie85 · 31/08/2017 10:42

To the poster who said "wig on a walrus" thank you- I almost wet myself. Smile

OP - you sound exactly the same as me! I lost 60 pounds in 2014 doing low carb dieting - it was great - no appetite. Dizzy spells, bad breath and nausea but no appetite!

Maintained for 1 year then developed a 2.5cm gallstone from the rapid weight loss (60 pounds off took four months)..Confused

Gall bladder out. Post operative diet of chocolate ice cream and Crumpets = 40 pounds back on within six months ...

I'm starting tomorrow - we're in this together Grin

In fact I fancy I have a flatter tummy already just from all the chicken I purchased before on my "healthy eating" shop... Grin

Sevendaysinaweek · 31/08/2017 12:03

Cameras are my problem. I go along quite happily, even looking in mirrors, quite pleased with myself, until someone takes a photo of me and I realise I look like a hippo Hmm.

In the immortal words of Friends - the camera adds 10 pounds but how many cameras were actually on you at the time??

Winterc00kie · 31/08/2017 12:31

Sevendaysinaweek

Are you me?

ikeadyounot · 31/08/2017 12:34

seven - that made me laugh out loud. So true of me. In my head, I'm still thin. Sadly, reality is not falling into conformity.

Morphene · 31/08/2017 13:26

I'm not only thinner in my head but infinitely better looking...

fuck cameras...and mirrors....cunting liars that they are.

Octopus37 · 31/08/2017 14:32

The problem is SurfandTurf, what happens if you dont pay it back, does interest grow in the form of extra pounds. I'm another one who wants tto be skinny instantly, on day 6 of very healthy eating lots less eating and starving today, refuse to weigh myself cause I will be falsely pleased or disappointed, feeling marginally lighter and smaller but probably all in my mind, rather than being instantly skinny.
