I've been eating healthily for TWO WHOLE WEEKS. I mean I know I have about 60lb to lose, but two WHOLE weeks. How bloody long is this going to take?! Wink

Neutrogena · 30/08/2017 15:41

It's just around the corner!!

JigglyTuff · 30/08/2017 15:43

Honestly, once you get into the swing of the 800 cals, it's not too bad. If you've done 5:2, 800 cals feels positively gluttonous!

I feel exactly the same as you @Purplemac Grin

But honestly, in a month, you will look very different, definitely. Do come over to the BSD thread - we're quite nice :)

JigglyTuff · 30/08/2017 15:46

EsperanzaDesperanza · 30/08/2017 15:49

I did a YouTube workout this morning. I swear I don't even look any different Angry

(The next 54lbs is bound to drop off really soon don't worry. Wink )

RB68 · 30/08/2017 15:50

Now potentially you are not measuring loss correctly. I am always of a view that you should count potential gain avoided as well so a 2lb loss is really a 4lb loss as there was potential to not gain the usual 2lb per week caused by crappy diet...

Coldilox · 30/08/2017 15:50

I ate a salad yesterday, I'm not yet a size 10.
Fuck's sake. What's the point?

scampimom · 30/08/2017 15:53

Oh I hear you. I have been eating sensibly ALL DAY and still have TTT syndrome. (Tummy touches table)

I expected to go home this evening looking like Cindy Crawford circa 1991, but a quick check in the work loos has revealed I'm more like someone put a wig on a walrus

scampimom · 30/08/2017 15:54

Oh, and what's all this about exercise as well?? Turns out, you have to do it more than once! It's a bloody swindle.

catgirl1976 · 30/08/2017 16:02

YANBU OP

I will have been low carbing for a month on Saturday and, although I have lost 10lb which is great I am STILL not skinny and have another 2 fecking stone to go. It is highly unfair Angry

I was expecting to be a size eight, 10 years younger and with much nicer hair by now Grin

SparklyUnicornPoo · 30/08/2017 16:03

Hahaha I worked out how much I eat compared to DH a few weeks back, literally half as much so why the fuck does he weigh approximately the same as my leg? He doesn't even exercise or eat vegetables, bastard.

Rach5l · 30/08/2017 16:05

Yesterday i ate healthy and exercised.
^
Whyyy didn't I wake up skinny?^ Sad

Purplemac · 30/08/2017 16:09

I'm so glad you ladies feel my pain.

OP posts:
scampimom · 30/08/2017 16:16

I remember the days when losing half a stone was a) achievable in days and b) noticeable. Nowadays, it's taken a month to lose 4lbs and I still have ten times that to lose, and I know that the loss will slow the closer I get to the target! There seems to be a design fault somewhere. Mainly that wine is delicious, and also entertainment.

Pigface1 · 30/08/2017 16:18

To be fair OP it sounds like you're doing really well so fair! 6lbs in 10 days is amazing!!

19lottie82 · 30/08/2017 16:21

I'm seeing a PT and about 210lbs and 5'9''

He's advised me to eat 1800 caps a day, plus do 2 resistance and 2 cardio sessions a week - I've lost half a stone in the last 2 weeks.

He also told me it's important to eat enough calories when you're trying to lose as if you don't eat enough then you won't actually lose? I forgot the scientific explanation.

Maybe that's what you're doing wrong?

19lottie82 · 30/08/2017 16:24

Here you go OP I think this is what he was talking about

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.prevention.com/weight-loss/not-eating-enough-for-weight-loss%3famp

Apart from that 900 calls a day doesn't sound sustainable, or healthy.

Purplemac · 30/08/2017 16:33

Thanks Lottie but I am losing, and know that I will carry on losing doing what I'm doing as it worked perfectly before and not too long ago! 1800 calories and expecting to lose is not realistic for me, it just won't happen. My body needs to burn the fat that is on my body already and use that as a primary source of energy, not the food that I'm putting into my body in excess.

This made me laugh so much. I'm sure your inner Cindy will reveal herself soon @scampimom

It took me 27 weeks of Slimming World and running 3 times a week to lose the walrus in a wig look.

Closetlibrarian · 30/08/2017 16:36

Stop running and lift weights instead

Purplemac · 30/08/2017 16:38

I'm only running so much because I'm running a half marathon in a couple of months so I'm training! Will be back at the gym after that and doing more resistance training.

OP posts:
TittyGolightly · 30/08/2017 16:39

Apart from that 900 calls a day doesn't sound sustainable, or healthy.

It's been proven to reverse type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance.

ikeadyounot · 30/08/2017 16:40

I think people haven't picked up on the sense of humour here and have got the wrong end of the stick - purplemac is losing LOADS of weight, really fast. Grin

Jellybean85 · 30/08/2017 16:42

Haha totally feel like this when I diet! Grin

But seriously look up reverse dieting, worked a treat for me Smile

Winterc00kie · 30/08/2017 16:45

I lost 4st last year over 4months by going to the gym 1hr every day (30 mins cardio/30mins weights)

and i cut out white foods such as potatoes, pasta, noodles....i basicly did the paleo diet.

PopeMortificado · 30/08/2017 16:51

Forget the cardio/running, the fastest way to lose weight is to build up muscle (weights in the gym). It takes about 4 weeks of at least x3 a week sessions to notice a difference in your metabolism - but once you get there, it is really noticeable as you start to burn more fat without really trying (or trying as hard!) - but you need to build up muscle to get there.

I'm not talking about bulging biceps just internally making your muscles stronger and toned. The changes to the muscles aren't really visible at 4 weeks but the effect on your metabolism really is.

The trouble with this is that to do it effectively you need some protein. If you are on a super-low cal diet, lettuce leaf style, it won't help you build the muscle tissue.
