My next door neighbour chainsmokes and he flicks the butts onto my drive where they roll into my drain, nestle in the cracks of my patio or just congregate around my front step making my house look unclean.

It's really disgusting, I've asked him to stop and he says it's 'the wind' blowing them in.

Would I be unreasonable to buy one of those covered ashtrays and put it on his doorstep with a note for him to please use it?

I would, no excuse then. Think the £ shop sells them.

Just tell him to put them out and put them in a bin or something or else you'll report him for littering. What a dick!

Definitely, I had words with a neighbour yesterday who actually leaves his house and stands at the corner of mine to smoke as he's "not allowed" to smoke round his DC.
My house reeks of smoke if I have my windows open, apparently he can smoke where he likes, I'm raging and planning petty revenge if only I could think what to do. That last bit is lighthearted by the way!

I would just dump the fab butts on his doorstep to be honest.

Keep collecting the butts and put them on his doorstep. He'll get the message eventually.

He admits that they are his butts, so give him permission to go into your garden with a dustpan and brush and sweep them up.

Does your neighbour have a car OP? I might be tempted to collect up all the fag butts and put them in little rows under the wipers, back and front. You would not damage the car this way (my first thought was superglue) but you would be inconveniencing him as much as he is doing to you with his fag butt knobbery.

mirren I have that too, neighbour chain smokes right next to my house so we can never have certain windows open as it makes my whole house smell. If someone wants to smoke, fine, but it annoys me they don't want to make their own house smell so other people have to put up with it
