... pronouns.

A couple of years ago they were muddling up their nominatives and accusatives big time, and we had a big thread about it. And now I notice that they've had a grammatical overhaul. Grin

Oh bum. I can't find the old thread now.

Obviously nobody else gives a shit but me. But having not been on MN for many months I am very excited to see there is a Gin emoticon. How long has that been there.

I'm waiting for someone to use blackberries brambles this year

MardyBra · 28/08/2017 19:27

Ooh. I don't remember brambles.

Although when thread searching earlier I also found one I'd started about wanky plate turning that I'd forgotten about. I'm clearly a woman with an unhealthy obsession about MC.

just read the old post, and i'm wondering how people pronounce chocolate if they don't say chock-lit?

Florene · 28/08/2017 19:30

The Gin bottle came about as a tribute to Zombie after she passed away, I think last year.

Becles · 28/08/2017 19:32

Also hope that they ask Greg to stop shouting every word rather than speaking.

MardyBra · 28/08/2017 19:33

So Sad about the lovely Zombie. I do remember seeing that. Gin is a great tribute.

GreatFuck (may I call you that?) Choc - let?

OP posts:
dementedma · 28/08/2017 19:34

I HATE people saying chocklit!

Elledouble · 28/08/2017 19:35

It's the way John says "kofte" that grates on me. And houmous. Cuffter and hoomus apparently. Argh!

inchyrablue · 28/08/2017 19:36

Chock o lit

GreatFuckability · 28/08/2017 19:38

you may mardy Grin....right, i see, yes, when i say its more like chock-lut. with a schwa on that last syllable. i was wondering if people were pronouncing the middle o and making it a 3 syllable word, because i'd feel well stupid doing that. full disclosure, i'm both welsh and common.

hellswelshy · 28/08/2017 19:39

Yes!John saying 'kufta' the other night made me and dh laugh lots. We don't get out much Grin

MardyBra · 28/08/2017 19:41

I usually assume John's pronunciations are down to him being Antipodean and all that. Like "Yoh- Gurt".

MontanaSkies · 28/08/2017 19:43

I noticed that too when I started watching this series OP! Really used to make me wince. Didn't even know there'd been a thread on it. (Can't quite believe I give this much of a shit either Grin)

hellswelshy · 28/08/2017 19:43

You're probably right, but it just amused us as suddenly Greg started saying it too! Almost as funny as when John wore dungarees once but that's a whole different thread Grin

PacificDogwod · 28/08/2017 19:47

Ah, I've found my people! Grin

I just read the first thread - v fun. But so, so true.
And I love that it was Not Lighthearted.
A pedant after my own heart, MardyBra!

MOIST · 28/08/2017 19:49

The pronounciation of Kerfter mad us have a (surprisingly rare) row.
H (easily influenced obviously) said something like 'oh I always add an egg to my kerfter.

In the 25 years I have known him he has made a kebab once. About 2 weeks ago. There is no fucking always about it and it is not a fucking kerfter you bloody twat.

I told him such and he was offended. So I killed him and put the body under the patio. Dickhead.

JeReviens · 28/08/2017 19:52

Which one of them can't do 'PASTA'. John I think. I can't remember now how he says it but I know it makes my head come spinning off every time he does it.
It's either 'PUSSTA' or 'PARSTA'.

JeReviens · 28/08/2017 19:52

MOIST Grin [ grin] Grin

Elledouble · 28/08/2017 21:06

Oh I hate PAAAARSTER too!

I'm so glad it's not just me with the kofte thing. It's come up surprisingly often this series, too!

SirRodneyEffing · 28/08/2017 21:21

I stopped watching in 2007 when one of them described rhubarb as "unctuous". Twats

Mollypolly2610 · 28/08/2017 22:14

I couldn't understand why they were both calling it "koofta" then later on Greg called it "kofta" but John was still calling it "koofta"

MardyBra · 01/09/2017 12:14

And now there's a whole new pronunciation phenomenon from Greg with the arrival of Yule-Reeka.
