As some of you know I'm on my own with DD (2) who's disabled. Back story here and some updates here for those who are interested.

There's an outdoor pool at a park in the city 10 miles away. The train is £4 return for me and free for DD, the train takes about 20 minutes then the park is a 20 minute walk from the station.

DD loves swimming, but I've never taken her on my own, there's usually an instructor, my DM or her Nursery staff with me.

I'm nervous, but have stuff for a picnic in the fridge (sausage rolls, pizza pockets, yogurts, penguins etc), the park also has a lovely playground and an avery which I know DD will love!

I know it's a BH and will be busy but I'm bored, and DDs spots from CP are now crusted over so she'll be back at Nursery tomorrow.

So WIBU to attempt to take DD swimming in this weather? Or should I ditch the swimming idea and just go to the park anyway?

If the swimming is making you nervous, just go to the park! It sounds lovely!

As pp said, maybe leave the swimming if it's making you anxious and just go for the park/picnic. Sounds lovely and I bet your daughter will enjoy whatever you do.

Take swimming stuff but reassess when you get there

Floellabumbags · 28/08/2017 13:51

I agree with freshstart.

I've packed the swimming bag but not sure we'll go in.

We ended up going in the pool as I could stand up in it easily, hadn't expected it to be so shallow as I'm not exactly tall (5ft 1.9in). DD loved it, and threw a tantrum because she didn't want to get out.

Brilliant, I hope it's given you a confidence boost and I'm glad DD enjoyed it (tantrums excepted).

Well done! Also a LP (with a child under investigation for 'something') so I get how daunting doing it on your own can be, but you did it!
