Just that, really. I've had a really hard time this last year, and I've decided to respond by fixing myself (because, let's be honest, you can't fix other people, can you?).

I'm naturally lazy and unmotivated. I've never been fit or healthy, and it's always made me sad. I've taken up running plodding this year, and for once, I haven't given up. I've just hired a PT for a few sessions, and I'm surprising myself by keeping going when I'm convinced I can't. I'm almost proud of myself.

I'm naturally so messy, so I've started decluttering the house, bit by bit. It's still a shit tip, but it's so much better than it was.

I tend towards misery and depression, and probably self-pity, if I'm honest, so I've written a bucket list and am endeavouring to make myself more the person I want to be.

I'd love to hear stories about your personal victories, however small. I'd love to know that people have made changes for the better, and really stuck with them. Inspire me?

I am the furthest from perfect you can get. But last week we went away camping for a couple of nights (skint just now so all we could manage). Because of flash flooding it took twice as long to get there as it should, it was baltic, hammered it down and we had to wade through raging floods to get to the windswept beach in leaky wellies. I was going to go down the "poor me" route then decided that the best choice was to take my holy wellies off, paddle in the freezing sea, eat limp sandwiches in the rain and laugh. The kids were happy (bit blue with the arctic conditions but hot chocolate fixed that), the dog was in heaven - ex racing Greyhound on a huge, flat beach is a wonderful sight - and we had a brilliant time. So my self improvement mission is to laugh at the crap and make the best of it. It's not going to come naturally.
