AIBU - childcare

AIBU to think "having two very young children is a massive amount of hassle; surely a reasonable solution is to hire a full time helper person for each child?"

Wife is an SAHM and believes I am being ridiculous.

I'd fucking love a nanny per child. Can I also have 2 cleaners, a cook and a gardner?

FannyTheFlamingo · 27/08/2017 12:45

I have a nanny for my little one....but now I want a tennis coach too! Grin

  1. My shit is together. My shit is super tight.
  1. "Crack on" with what? It's not like, if I work really efficiently they'll hit 18 any faster.

Am pissing myself laughing at this thread!

Not sure if it makes a difference, but should probably add that both kids are boys that could easily have escaped from north of the wall

Are they white walkers, wights, wildlings, border rivers or just Geordies? If it's the latter, just put the football on for them.

CityBoy1984 · 27/08/2017 12:49

@grandOlejukeofYork

That's a really good point. We actually have a cleaner (once a week) and a gardener (once a month). No cook though.

I was wondering whether, if I get a nanny from former soviet state, i could save a bit of money by firing the cleaner and he gardener and having the nannies do that stuff.

OP posts:
babybigapple · 27/08/2017 12:50

Now I know this is a bullshit - no stairs but you have a garden for a gardener.

Unless you only have lifts and escalators?

CityBoy1984 · 27/08/2017 12:51

@Maelstrop

Wildlings, obvs. If they were white walkers I wouldn't need nannies - I could just lock their arses out on the terrace and occasionally feed them a dog or something.

OP posts:
CityBoy1984 · 27/08/2017 12:52

@babybigapple

We don't have stairs because we have a lift (our garden is on the roof of the building).

Only one nanny per child? How does she survive?!?!?

Timetogrowup2016 · 27/08/2017 12:59

Haha.
This is hilarious

blackteasplease · 27/08/2017 13:04

wtf would you need one per child?

What other things anyway?

Surely if you have the money you get a cleaner/ housekeeper and get in easy meals / ready made stuff from Cook or similar to free up your wife to be with the kids? Or get a little bit of child care as we all need a break plus the cleaner.

Miserylovescompany2 · 27/08/2017 13:04

I can't quite visualise your home - could you possibly draw a diagram?

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 27/08/2017 13:04

If she is feeling neglected, I'll get her a tennis coach

Cries laughing

blackteasplease · 27/08/2017 13:05

OP has got a pretty good sense of humour though!

Just read your update re having a cleaner but still not sure what else it is your wofe would be doing?

Bettercallsaul1 · 27/08/2017 13:15

I would get a third nanny, just to be on the safe side, in case one of the originals is ill or indisposed. That way, wifey would be completely covered.

CityBoy1984 · 27/08/2017 13:19

@Miserylovescompany2

Not sure how to draw a diagram on here. Try to imagine a big rectangle, and then a smaller rectangle inside. The smaller rectangle is the apartment, the bigger rectangle is the garden/roof.

Is that helpful?

OP posts:
GrumpyOldBag · 27/08/2017 13:19

You actually need 2 nannies per child.

One for weekdays, another for weekends. Because they need some time off.

I believe that's how Madonna used to manage her household . (My nanny used to run into them in the park occasionally).

CityBoy1984 · 27/08/2017 13:20

@Bettercallsaul1

3 nannies? That's ridiculous. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find two good nannies?

OP posts:
CityBoy1984 · 27/08/2017 13:21

@GrumpyOldBag

I actually think the staggered days idea is really interesting. Maybe they could each do 5 days, so there is only 2 days per week when any one nanny has to cope on her own. Assuming Wifey let's her get on with it, that is.

That's a good point. Haven't gotten around to figuring that out yet. Sure it'll be great though.

Wifey is on mumsnet, so feel free to post some suggestions for her.

Thanks, this is thoughtful. Wifey doesn't really cook, but there is this new service called Deliveroo which can probably help with the cooking.

"DailyMailBoy1984"

That is really offensive. One more outburst like that and I am going to report you to the Mumsnet... overlords.

Anyway, I am obvs not a Daily Mail reader. When it comes to nannies I have no desire to buy domestic.
