That's it really. I'm sitting here surrounded by clothes and boxes and cannot will myself to do a thing. I am weak and light headed. Just want it done. Anyone else feel like this, and survive??

How long until you move? Can you just do a bit and have a short-ish break?

user1471530109 · 26/08/2017 17:04

Lol. I too am sat surrounded empty boxes. I've just made myself start and have put most of dining room side board stuff into boxes and all the ornaments/vases/clutter from living room and dining room into boxes. 5 done.

And I've lost motivation now.

I've been told not to box the clothes. They will put into wardrobe hangers on the day and will just load drawers as they are i will put drawer of underwear in car myself

Are you buying and selling or renting? Can you afford a Packing service with your removal service?

user1471530109 · 26/08/2017 17:05

I'm moving Friday btw. This afternoon I only just started but have thrown enough to fill the removals van away in the last few months.

MrTrebus · 26/08/2017 17:08

We're just about to move (buying and selling) and I got quite overwhelmed by it until I started doing it! Once I started it seemed so much more achievable and we're also leaving draws alone, on the day they can remove the draws, put the carcass in the van, reload the draws and the same the other end. Or if it's not too heavy they can carry the whole thing draws and all. So once you exclude furniture with draws it might seem less daunting.

I am moving on Wednesday. It is very stressful but it will get done!

I'm more stressed about remembering to change and set up everything...

LorLorr2 · 26/08/2017 17:11

Isn't moving house meant to be one of the most stressful things someone can do? Nobody would blame you for feeling lethargic.
Have something to eat, a cuppa and a rest then tackle one small section/box at a time.

mikado1 · 26/08/2017 17:12

Oh im greatly heartened that there are a few of us sitting around with empty boxes! :) Thanks for solidarity and tips. We are buying and selling but have to rent in between so I'm sorting stuff we need for next 2months and leaving the rest to removals but even that fe

Yes as above one room at a time definitely.

mikado1 · 26/08/2017 17:15

Feels overwhelming! The whole actually leaving feels overwhelming!

Actually, OP, I am also selling, buying and renting in between!

I got the keys to my rental today, so over the weekend, I'm going to take all the kids school stuff to new house. I'm also going to take enough to sort out the kitchen. So a few plates, cups etc. So over next weekend, I won't have the panic of unpacking before all 3 of us go back to school on the 4th.

I do have packers coming on Monday to help. I plan on doing some myself and letting them take over Monday. It was only £120 (and I've been told will be half price as I'm doing g some myself too).

Wine tonight Wink

Moving is hideous.

I remember going to the doctors mid-move because I couldn't breathe and had pains in my chest. Assumed I had a chest infection.

Nope. Was stress.

Hmm

You have my sympathy.

In a few weeks bit will be a memory.

mikado1 · 26/08/2017 19:56

KingJoffrey!! That is it exactly. I'm relieved to hear I'll recover, I've been feeling like I'm down a deep dark well and I'm not getting out. User, you sound extremely together! I unfortunately am a few hours from new place so can't nip over, has to be a big move to rental followed by the later move. Plus I'll be on my own with the dc for the first few weeks, New schooletc!!

user1471530109 · 26/08/2017 20:17

Lol. I promise you I'm not together at all. Had a disaster with this move. Purchase fell through etc. Plus after going through divorce a couple of months ago, I am on the edge, I promise you.

I haven't done any more than 5 boxes today. I have written a list for tomorrow and hopefully I will get half of it all done.

Like I said, I do have packers booked for Monday. At least, hope they turn up!

My rental is an hour away. I'm planning on going over tomorrow and going through the inventory and taking some things over.

If your OH is around, get them to help! I'd also ask about packers. At the moment, they are my only hope. I was so convinced exchange wouldn't happen, I didn't pack a thing until it did then waited a week

Wine is what you need tonight

mikado1 · 26/08/2017 20:37

Ah thanks user, yes packers organised for the bulk, it's just the getting there with the small stuff I'm finding hard!! And the physical move! I'm sure you've had a tough few months, and before, but great you can now buy your own house. Hope your dc doing ok, and you. Sitting down now for the night.

How's it going now, Mikado ?
I've done dining room (massive sideboard), living room, started my room (mainly just clothes left now) and started my eldest RM. I need a bit of a break so planning to go over to rental for a couple of hours and take some of the essentials I will need urgently. Like school stuff!

I'm glad I didn't leave it all til tomorrow and packers though. I'm a bit worried about the sheer quantity of crap we have! Blush. And I've decluttering too!

Hope you're managing to plough through. I can't believe that I'm going to have to do this again in a few months time Angry

mikado1 · 31/08/2017 20:54

I hopped in the car and left!! Brought the needed things, the personal things and the paperwork Oh and the dc! So the strain has already melted away to some extent for sure and removal will store everything else until house ready. Result of sorts. Hope you're doing ok too!
