To wonder if Labour are trying to scapegoat its politicians who speak out against Rotherham/child grooming gangs?

First Sarah Champion resigned as Shadow Equalities Minister after she wrote an article for the Sun critical of the Rotherham child abuse gang and now a Labour Councillor, Amina Lone, has been deselected after she too was critical of the gangs and supported Sarah Champion.

It all seems a bit sinister and not very supportive of women.

The social worker who exposed the Rochdale grooming circle was ade redundant - I find this interview heartbreaking and very powerful:

I live in West Yorkshire and made 37 reports of inappropriate sexual relationships between young girls and older men between 2013 and 2015. The police visited me at work at 10.30pm one evening and asked me why I was pursuing this when the girls were choosing to be in the relationships, and told me that my 'harassment' of the men (which amounted to me asking under 16s if they would like to come with me rather than get into a mans car, and telling the men that providing under 16s with alcohol was illegal - no shouting, no threats etc) could be considered a hate crime due to their race. The police, church and other institutions are still putting the abused young people as the lowest priority in society and it has broken me to the point where I now only work with vulnerable groups on a voluntary basis a few hours a week.

boringrobot · 25/08/2017 15:33

Mrs Trebus - That is shocking. How horrible for you.

So much for girls women's rights and equality being so important to Labour!

LittleScaredyCat · 25/08/2017 15:36

I can't believe how this has turned out. How are young girls not seen as worthy of protection? How is race more important than that?

MissionItsPossible · 25/08/2017 15:36

MrsTrebus That is horrifying and I find it sad that that happened to you and has now made you want to help less. SadFlowers

HalfShellHero · 25/08/2017 15:43

Yup yup and yup im a Rotherhamite and race ...whether it be the edl or liberal ideology are still a bigger focus than the girls...AngrySad

Schroedingerscatagain · 25/08/2017 16:12

MrsTrebus

I am in awe of you and sickened but sadly not surprised by the attitudes you have come across

I worry deeply and I'm by no means a feminist, about the erosion of female rights in the name of tolerance of particularly mysoginistic groups within society

As for the direction of the current Labour Party, many good people need to wake up and look at their sinister attitude to behaviour within the party

boringrobot · 25/08/2017 16:30

There seems to be a hierarchy of victimhood. Young white girls, obviously fall well below certain ethnic minority men in this instance. How sad for the struggle for women's right that so many women died for that we now seem to be going backwards to keep the peace. I too worry for the future as a woman and which of our rights will be gradually eroded.

OP posts:
Pigface1 · 25/08/2017 16:34

You're right. Women and girls always come at the bottom of the hierarchy of victimhood. Then there's a hierarchy within the hierarchy - middle class, attractive, white women come higher up. Working class teenagers come at the very bottom.

HalfShellHero · 25/08/2017 16:34

Been googling Amina seemed bloody brilliant even vocal about young girls wearing hijabs ...what a shame I think SYP are a big issue here between hillsborough., pervert helicopter unit and grooming scandal ...a lot of rotten apples in a small cart.

FannyWisdom · 25/08/2017 16:36

But the Labour MP Nazis Shar who openly retweeted some shite about the victim's shutting up for cohesion is still in her job.

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 25/08/2017 16:38

If they keep on like this labour will start losing these seats to UKIP. That's not an outcome I want but they will deserve it. People in Yorkshire are really angry about this stuff.
Agree re SYP. My dad was a Merseyside copper and he had no time for them. Lazy and incompetent.

surferjet · 25/08/2017 16:40

White girls/women are less important than ethnic minority men.
We will just have to accept that.
& yes, we are going backwards.

Boulshired · 25/08/2017 16:40

I am shocked at the lack of the word paedophile when reporting of these crimes. The word child is often replaced with teenager/ young women/ girl. Even the title three girls how much more powerful would the title of been if they had used three children.

dumbledore345 · 25/08/2017 16:43

Momentum:
mysoginists
anti semites
anti free speech

Bit like Trotskyites.

What a surprise.

dumbledore345 · 25/08/2017 16:45

women only carriages...

see the writing on the wall?

boringrobot · 25/08/2017 16:45

But why are Labour doing this? Is it because they want the votes of this ethnic minority or do they just hate white working class girls? What is the motivation? Once again, I find it very sinister.

OP posts:
HalfShellHero · 25/08/2017 16:47

Thats interesting KrinkleK did he have a lot of dealings with them or just hillsborough? I made a scathing post about a helicopter unit pc from SYP who was recently arrested for filming swingers and stalking an ex lads mag model in her garden Angry...flush them out and start again!!!

SchoolShoes · 25/08/2017 16:49

This has been on my mind. Can't believe Labour - or rather don't want to believe.

tobee · 25/08/2017 16:49

None of this surprises me. Corbyn is not a very nice person.

SchoolShoes · 25/08/2017 16:50

I assumed it was a fake tweet from Naz Shah, is it real?

dumbledore345 · 25/08/2017 16:51

It's not Labour as a whole.

It's Momentum and the Corbynistas who are driving reasonable people out of the party. Dissenters are de- selected.

Without them we would have had a Labour government after the last two elections. Would probably have had a different referendum result as well.

SchoolShoes · 25/08/2017 16:51

Mrs Trebus that's appalling.

HalfShellHero · 25/08/2017 16:51

White working class women are treat dreadfully by society as a whole classism misogyny and predjudice from ethnic communities as a whole..
