Huh. I took this to mean that Vivienne was going to leave us alone: Anyway you all obviously think you know what you're doing. But just keep your reality hat on. Clearly we’re not that lucky. Let’s hope my interpretation about the crypto market is rather better.

My Bitcoin doubting DH asked me last night why I hadn’t bought any XRP because “lots of my friends own it.” Hmm Yeah, OK. Had to give a long explanation as to why I would invest in Ripple the company but not Ripple the token. If he wants XRP that badly, he can bloody well buy it himself!

I’m looking more into companies involved in the tech and a few weeks ago did break and buy into Overstock and Square when both were gong through a correction. My Overstock is now up 65% and Square is just up. I also have shares in FFWD which has shares in Factom, another big blockchain player. Depending on the crypto prices over the tax year end, I may sell some to do more with the tech companies.

Noofly · 06/01/2018 11:13

Oh God, he’s up now and is still wittering on about Ripple, and even worse, TRON! Make.it.stop. I’ve told him he should bung £1000 into the DADI launch in a couple of weeks and when that has increased by 100 fold to sell and stick it into Ripple the company (or rather I will, as he doesn’t have permission to). I think that’s shut him up for a few minutes.

MNOverinvestor · 06/01/2018 11:49

I know Tron is some sad boy film from the 80s/90s but you may have to educate me about Dadi. The NYT article has left me disenchanted with my Ripple. Mind you, I only bought £50’s worth in the summer. There’s nothing inherently wrong with pure speculation I guess but it feels a long way from Bitcoin’s original premise.

AlicesOnChains · 06/01/2018 12:45

Wow Vivienne, what's your problem?? You're really obsessed and sounds like you hope it DOES go tits up for people so that they stop making money. Weird!

I've made shit loads of money on Bitcoin, have paid off debts with the profits and so far, the money continues to roll in. I'm making about £2k a month short trading. It's a third full time wage coming in for us. It's totally turned our lives around.

Noofly · 06/01/2018 13:01

Tron is a shitcoin according to most of the people I follow on Twitter. I haven’t bothered to look into why, though so maybe it is the most amazing thing ever. It’s pretty hard to buy and has skyrocketed over the past few weeks. DADI is doing a crowdfunding launch soon but it stole a white paper from another token and published it as its own with a few tweaks so might also be a shitcoin, but might skyrocket at launch. Lots of pump and dump going on with both, I suspect and I tend to stay away from that sort of thing.

DH got a bit put out when I told him he needed to buy Ripple all on his own. He then tried to sign up with Bitstamp, only to be told that they have a two week backlog for processing new registrations. Grin I am now taking pity on him and have told him that I will see whether any of the exchanges I’m with sell Ripple.

AlicesOnChains · 06/01/2018 13:07

My DH is buying ripple now, I can't be bothered getting into anything new so I'm leaving him to it. I keep annoying him buy asking how his "nipple" is going 😂 childish

Latest tale of Bitcoin loss here:

www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/7obot7/all_my_cryptocurrency_stolen/

All the coinz stolen from the hardware wallet as the user is one of the 99% of the planet who is not smart enough to keep coins safe and didn't realise that the hardware wallet itself was a scam.

Absolute shitshow.

Anyone who doesn't have a very solid understanding of cryptography, public and private keys AS WELL as solid disaster planning and disaster recovery skills has no business anywhere near cryptocurrencies.

What a fucking cancer on humanity.

Noofly · 06/01/2018 16:40

I thought that user bought his Ledger from a reseller, not Ledger itself and that it came with a preprinted seed, clearly against how Ledger works and it should have been obvious because anyone with a Ledger seed can recreate the wallet on any Ledger using the seed.

All of this is very clear on the Ledger website.

A lesson on why you shouldn’t buy anything without understanding how it works.

pisacake · 06/01/2018 16:44

a lesson, once again, why most people shouldn't be involved in crypto.

Noofly · 06/01/2018 16:57

If people can’t be bothered reasearching what they are getting into, no, they shouldn’t be getting involved in cryptos.

DH is in luck. It turns out that I signed up to CEX ages ago (they are also not taking on new registrations just now) and they have added Ripple. If DH is very nice to me, I might just buy him some. Grin

pisacake · 06/01/2018 18:47

ripple is a scam

Noofly · 06/01/2018 18:57

The Ripple isn’t for me. As I’ve posted several times before, I wouldn’t buy Ripple (but would invest in the company), but if DH wants some, good luck to him.

Newyearnewyew · 06/01/2018 21:37

How lonbg for coin base to verify the account to then give me my money back> I think it was wednesday when we paid £9 and had to put any sum of money over to wherever to then get my money back? I have sold my bit coin and luite coin

KelzPaige · 06/01/2018 22:22

Hi all, I'm relatively new to all this, but what exchanges are most people using? Is there 3 or 4 that covers most currencies? I've bought a few bits using Binance so far. Thank you Smile

Noofly · 07/01/2018 18:17

WTF. I buy DD Dogecoins and the market cap more than doubles to $2bn. Perhaps I am a Shibe prophet. Grin Good coin. Happy coin. Grin

Damn cryptocurrencies for just not getting the joke. I'm still gutted that Dogecoin has nothing to do with dissolute Venetian rulers. Mind you, I still get irked that many people referring to icons don't mean gilded devotional works of art. I may not be cut out for this high tech world.

DoctorTwo · 08/01/2018 04:59

Real life Cool Runnings Dogecoin sent Jamaica bobsleigh team to Sochi Olympics. This is why I don't view Doge as a joke.

pisacake Ripple is a scam

I agree. My opinion is that it's designed as a get rich quick scheme for the founders.

Noofly · 08/01/2018 10:34

I love my Doge!

Seriously, though. If anyone wants some light relief and to get away from all the get rich quick, lambos, to the moon etc crap, go over to reddit Dogecoin. It’s a fantastic lighthearted community and it makes me happy. Grin

Besides, they already sent a Shibe to the moon so they have no need for all the hyperbole. Wink

another day another critical security flaw.

hahahahahahahahahaha

future of money

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaa

Viviennemary · 08/01/2018 17:31

But remember that won't happen to those in the know. It's only thick people that don't understand it who will have their money pinched. The clever ones will be multi-millionaires. Biggest scam of the century. Says who bitcoin is worth anything???? Medium of Exchange. Nobody accepts it. Not probably even your local drug pusher.

Hullygully · 08/01/2018 17:32

Dolly Parton accepts monero.

Go Dolly.

Hullygully · 08/01/2018 17:38

Anger. Anyone still starting bitcoin articles with Tulips in the title is just angry. The person carefully crafting charts plotting other historical bubbles against Bitcoin is angry. Googling Sir Isaac Newton to see how much he lost in the South Sea Bubble is just anger. Talking about how 'its only paper' money or forwarding articles detailing how you might be worth $X million on paper but that you can't spend a bitcoin is just stuck in anger and not helping themselves.

Viviennemary · 08/01/2018 22:10

Or even Beaniebabies. TY did quite well out of it. Not so sure about the rest of the enthusiasts.
