Five Mums in a row on a cafe table (diagram!)

The scene: Busy cafe this morning. It's a small cafe with only eight or so tables in the middle of a shopping centre, with people walking past on either side of the tables. On either end of the cafe, two long tables are set up that can seat twelve: six each side. Today though, a group of Mums, Grans and kids set up so they were sitting on one side of a table only.

Now, the cafe was busy. Someone did actually approach and ask if they it was okay if they sat down at the table, to be met with, "No, sorry, there's no room!" AIBU to think this was a little unreasonable (and giving mothers a bad name?)

Mums, kids and coffee. Ths is the reason why I only ever go to pubs.

Meh.

You need to practise your diagram skills op. Could do better, really Grin

Maybe the kids had the other seats and we're playing/toileting whilst waiting for food to arrive?

All that facing you - nice Hmm

Surely, it's harder to all chat together if they are all seated along in a row rather than grouped around one end of the table. The café owner wouldn't have been pleased either that they were antisocial and maybe could have lost them some customers. Café owners take note - buy smaller tables which can be pushed together for larger groups, if needed!

Wouldn't matter who they were, Mums, Dads, grandparents, teenagers seems a bit inconsiderate to sit along one side when if they had used both sides at one end there would be a good area for other customers. Would also keep children in one area hopefully. Not just Mums a bad name anyone doing that.
