Just that. Failed my second one today again and considering just giving the whole thing up as a bad job. This time for hesitation when edging out of a junction causing a car to slow down 😐

OP posts:
spanieleyes · 21/08/2017 19:38

Second time for me, probably because during my first test I was overtaken by a pushbike!

PippaRose · 21/08/2017 19:39

5th time here, keep going!

daisym00n · 21/08/2017 19:40

Passed on my 3rd attempt. Failed the first one before I even left the test centre, knew I'd failed and still had to carry on with the rest of the test.

During my 2nd attempt, I hadn't realised the car had stalled during my reverse park manouver and carried on trying to reverse. So embarrassed when the instructor said "Miss Moon, I think you'll have better luck if you turn the engine back on."

cheesydoesit · 21/08/2017 19:41

Third time was a charm for me. I just wasn't ready on my first attempt and fluffed up a manoeuvre on my second but I just knew during my third test that I was going to pass. Don't give up!

Soslowmo · 21/08/2017 19:42

5 tests. I'm a really good driver though 😊.

sunandmoonshine · 21/08/2017 19:51

I'm so sorry OP. Better luck next time! The ones who took more than one time are the best drivers!!! I took 7 times. Took 4 in one year 25 years ago (in my 20's) and failed them all. Sad

I thought 'what is the point?' I was so pissed off.

Then I took a dozen or so driving lessons 10 years later, and took 2 tests, a few weeks apart.

Failed both. I thought 'bollocks, that's it.'

Then I just decided to give it one more go a year later, and passed!!! I was in my mid 30's!!!

I did actually practice in DH's car about 20 times over 5-6 weeks though. Reverse park, reverse around a bend, reversing into a space, going in and out of traffic cones, up and down the gears, and generally practicing things I wasn't great at.

Then as I said, I passed.

You'll do it. Smile Look at the amount of people here who took multiple attempts to pass!

Practice the things you're not great at - do you have a car you can use? (Hubby's/dad's/friends?)

powernapsrule · 21/08/2017 19:55

Took after my mum, did three months of lessons (2 hours a week) and passed first time.
Sister took after my dad, took more lessons and passed third time I think.

tinytemper66 · 21/08/2017 19:55

Took me 7 times 🚘

Rumplestaleskin · 21/08/2017 19:59

Second time lucky but I still reckon I drive better on my first test.

Ridingthegravytrain · 21/08/2017 20:01

5 within a 3 month period

nippey · 21/08/2017 20:04

5th time Blush

Nuttynoo · 21/08/2017 20:06
  1. My brother took 6. My friend 14. Incidentally we're all better and more confident drivers than the people who I knew who passed first time.
pinkpopcorn · 21/08/2017 20:13

4th time!

mumof2kiddos · 21/08/2017 20:14

passed 5th time. First 4 were in manual cars and I hated changing gears with a passion. 5th time new place ,automatic car and passed.

I had been learning for 5 years, spent a fortune in the driving lessons (my DH used to joke that my instructor must have built a mansion with all the money that I have had to give him for lessons).

However I am a still a nervous and a cautious driver and am comfortable driving within city and town limits and known area. But thats because the way I am.

Dont give up OP.

BettyOBarley · 21/08/2017 20:15

Passed 2nd time. I really wasn't ready the first time but my theory was about to expire as I'd buggered about for so long so thought I might as well give it a shot. The examiner told me he stopped counting the minors in the end Blush

moralberyll · 21/08/2017 20:15

I have failed six times so far and I have another test booked for next month, it is so demoralising and it is stripping my confidence, it is hands down the hardest thing I have ever had to do, harder than my degrees even. I have been to the doctors for beta blockers this time in desperation.

Ditsy1980 · 21/08/2017 20:20

7 for me! 🙈
I had 4 when I was 17/18 then gave up and started again at 32, took another 3.

Mittens1969 · 21/08/2017 20:24

I passed 2nd time. 23 years ago. We didn't need to do theory tests back then, the examiner just asked questions about the Highway Code and that was it. I'll always remember the time before that when I failed. My legs were like jelly! There's no test more nerve-wracking than the driving test.

My DH passed first time, at 18 years old, he loves driving!

The one consolation is that once you've passed the test you don't have to take it again unless you screw up big time.

Shalalalalala · 21/08/2017 20:33

I passed first time but I can assure you it was sheer luck on the day! I was genuinely shocked. You WILL do it and you will get your urge to do it again, you're just feeling crap understandably because it only happened today.

ineedteanownotlater · 21/08/2017 20:36

Passed first time. After 12 lessons.

Amee1992x · 21/08/2017 20:37

First time, took my other half 3! Stick at it we all pass eventually

Ropsleybunny · 21/08/2017 20:39

First time. I think it's a lucky break if you do pass first time.

Underthemoonlight · 21/08/2017 20:40

I passed first time no minors however I don't know how as I'm so nervous but slowly settling down. I had lessons however on and off for 7 years before fully commiting to doing my lessons. My dh passed second time and is now a Heavy goods driver. My auntie passed first time and is a terrible driver. I think it all depends on luck on the day ,traffic, the examiner etc. Mine was so lovely it made me relax did you take any rescue remedies I found that helped.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 21/08/2017 20:44

I passed on the third attempt. If it makes you feel better, someone I know failed seven times, took an intensive driving course and still failed. Finally passed on attempt number eleven. You couldn't make it up.

ChorusLine69 · 21/08/2017 21:13

5th time. Don't give up! Think of all the time and money you have invested, you will do it, if I can, anyone can!
