Just that. Failed my second one today again and considering just giving the whole thing up as a bad job. This time for hesitation when edging out of a junction causing a car to slow down 😐

It just feels ridiculous to fail for something so simple and it just costs a fortune. I've spent nearly £1200 between lessons and tests and theory tests and the whole lot.

First time with no minors. Friend passed 6th time and scraped through. Who's the more confident driver? She is. I am good performing under stress and was lucky on the day. Keep going. You WILL do it.

donajimena · 21/08/2017 19:01

Fifth time lucky for me. Beta blockers stopped my nerves completely..

I passed 4th go. Each time I failed I booked another test straight away and I was still only 18 when I passed, so the multiple attempts don't seem like a big deal really.

Sallystyle · 21/08/2017 19:02

I passed on my 4th time with 1 minor.

I hated the tests with a passion. I had to use a new car for my last test and I just knew I was going to fail and I only told dh and my mum about that test. I had no nerves because I knew I would fail. It was a fantastic test in the end Grin

I am no worse or better a driver than someone who passed on the first, second or 7th test. You just keep going.

bumasbigasthetv · 21/08/2017 19:02

6th time! Just a month ago. Its taken me 20 years although I have had breaks inbetween. I was always extremely nervous on the tests which caused me to make mistakes and even the thought of a test would make me stress. Keep going, it will be worth it!

oldlaundbooth · 21/08/2017 19:03

Passed fifth time.

It's purposefully hard to pass.

oldlaundbooth · 21/08/2017 19:04

Don't see the tests as real tests, just see them as practise tests. That way it's less intimidating.

NotPennysBoat815 · 21/08/2017 19:07

Past on my sixth. OH on his first. And don't I know it!

Boynamedsue · 21/08/2017 19:08

I passed third time. I was convinced I'd failed within the first five minutes (he told me to pull over somewhere safe and convenient, I did but then he suggested I pull forward so I wasn't in front of a bus stop Blush). It definitely helped though because all my nerves were gone for the rest of the test. I could have kissed him when he said I'd passed!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 21/08/2017 19:09

I passed my third time. I did two in a row about ten years ago, then took a break. Started learning again at the end of last year and finally passed about a month ago.

Monny1 · 21/08/2017 19:10

3rd time, OH on his first attempt. You can do it!

Earthmoon · 21/08/2017 19:10

Third time lucky here. Dh and my brother and sister first time. But all of them can control their nerves better than me. What helped me was to narrate loudly every action I was about to do. However, I did ask if my examiner was fine with this first and he was.

FitbitAddict · 21/08/2017 19:11

Just once, although I thought I had failed.

Thegiantofillinois · 21/08/2017 19:16

It was the only thing I'd ever failed snd that destroyed my confidence. Took me into double figures before I passed.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 21/08/2017 19:18

First. I'm a lousy driver but I love exams.

BhajiAllTheWay · 21/08/2017 19:22

4th time..please don't give up OP. You will pass. I had a great drive on my 3rd but the examiner failed me because I slowed to let a pedestrian finish walking across the road! Presumably should have run him over but apparently Islowed too far away.. ( my instructor went ballistic and complained) anyway, on my 4th test I had the chief examiner. I hit a wing mirror, didn't stop at a zebra crossing..Blushbut he passed me with 2 minors! He said there had been so many hazards on my drive and I'd coped well. So don't give up.

Purplemac · 21/08/2017 19:24

I passed 3rd time. Please don't give up, the minute you pass it no longer matters how long it took and the amount of freedom you'll have will be Amazing!

HoneyIshrunktheBiscuit · 21/08/2017 19:26

8th time Wink nerves effed me up

Marinade · 21/08/2017 19:28

I passed on my fifth attempt, so don't give up! Seriously if I can pass anyone can. Hardest thing I have ever had to do. I really know how demoralising it is to fail and I felt like jacking the whole thing in more than once, but I just thought about the independence it would give me and the money I had already spent. If you have a reputable driving instructor they would not put you in for the test unless they think you are ready and capable of passing. Good luck!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 21/08/2017 19:29

4th, but one of those was so bad that I complained and was given a free one. A bigwig was observing the examiner and he sat in the back of the car. I was properly intimidated and he blocked my view in the mirror. He was a big bloke and it was a Nini.

I had a gap between first and second and then third and fourth. I didn't tell anyone I was doing it the last time and practised relaxation and deep breathing. It made a difference.

bilbobaggi · 21/08/2017 19:30

Keep going!! Passing your test isn't so much to do with how good a driver you are (well a bit obviously) but it's more to do with controlling your nerves. Try Bachs rescue remedy spray. (3rd time!)

MrsJoyOdell · 21/08/2017 19:33

1st time for DH and I. (but he took 2 attempts at theory and I did it first time Grin )Heard an old wives tale about eating a banana so I did, as did he. I've told multiple people the same and all have passed first time!
