Honestly?

Nobody cares except you and your immediate family.

Andrewofgg · 22/08/2017 08:35

A million congratulations. Call your baby Alex or Evelyn. Problem solved!

When DS was on the way our answer to Do you want a boy or s girl? was Yes.

namechanger2735 · 22/08/2017 08:36

I've been through struggling to conceive AND losses myself. Just can't imagine being so negative towards someone else

Let me guess, you're going to have a gender reveal party? Grin

Wow there are some bizarre reactions on here. The title of the post made it pretty obvious as to what the content would be so if you don't want to see/ think about/ acknowledge the fact that people are pregnant then the option to just keep scrolling is yours (and I too have experienced difficulty conceiving, miscarriage and premature birth). For what it's worth op I think girl but that's just because it looks like my 2 girls scan pics did. Congratulations and hope all goes well Flowers

namechanger2735 · 22/08/2017 08:48

Thank you so much up Flowers

I haven't read the threat but answering before I do for fun - I'm quite sure it looks like a girl!

namechanger2735 · 22/08/2017 08:51

My mind has changed through the thread, but I agree hapax

OP posts:
Showandtell · 22/08/2017 08:52

Shouldn't it be SEX not gender?

Hapaxlegomenon · 22/08/2017 08:53

I've read the thread now - yes it's the line between the legs which is parallel to the spine, and if it were a boy it would be more like 45 degrees upward. I'm no expert though!

namechanger2735 · 22/08/2017 08:54

show it should yeah, I wrote before I thought.
hapax that's what I read

"Who are you to impose gender on your child"

2017 style

namechanger2735 · 22/08/2017 09:02

It'll be a bloody cold baby if i have to wait for it to respond with what colour he or she would like to wear

hapaxlegomenon May I respectfully say that that is a wonderful screen name?

Bearfrills · 22/08/2017 09:42

I THINK the earliest you can tell by scan is 16 weeks

I thought DS2 was a boy from around 6wks of pregnancy when I started craving vinegar. At my 12wk scan he was measuring as 13+2. We got a really good look between his legs and at his nub. I joked "its a boy!" because his nub was pointing almost straight up. The sonographer went back for a closer look and agreed with me but said not to rush out and buy anything for a boy until after the 20wk scan. Apparently an experienced sonographer with a good view of the nub can predict the sex at this stage with around 70% accuracy.

When I had my 12wk scan with DD2 we had the same sonographer and she remembered us so we had a good look at her nub towards the end of the scan as a bit of fun. Sonographer and I both theorised girl, based on symptoms I was already thinking girl anyway. 20wk scan I was told definitely a girl!

I think girl OP.

namechanger2735 · 22/08/2017 09:49

I've heard about the experienced sonographer but as they said, wouldn't take their word until later. I'm convinced this one is a girl as my pregnancy has been exactly the same as when I was pregnant with DD. Spots, sickness, big sore boobs, back ache and no let up! I was admitted to hospital multiple times and given uncountable different types of medication to try and relieve it.. but nothing worked. So good luck to me haha

There are no symptoms that can predict the sex. A craving for vinegar means you should eat some chips, it has nothing to do with the foetus.
You guessed at random and happened to be right, which is hardly unusual since you had a 50% chance.

AccrualIntentions · 22/08/2017 09:58

I'm going for boy.

Bearfrills · 22/08/2017 09:59

I craved vinegar with DS1, to the point that I was eating bread soaked in vinegar and I was constantly tired. With DD1 I completely went off food altogether but had loads of energy. So when I started craving vinegar with DC3 (bowl of mushy peas with an inch deep layer of vinegar on top, anyone?) and was bone draggingly tired, I felt like it was probably a boy. When I totally went off food with DC4 and couldn't sleep because I felt wired 24/7 I felt like I was having a girl.

Yes, I had a 50% chance of being right/wrong but it's just a bit of fun and with hyperemesis, regular bleeding, and a history of infertility and miscarriage I felt like I needed a bit of fun to help carry me through the long days.

namechanger2735 · 22/08/2017 10:24

bear you know your body!
The only good thing about this pregnancy being as hard as the last is that I'm classed as high risk now. So they take me seriously with prescribing what helped last time rather than making me try all the things I know won't help first, I get extra scans so I can see baby more! And il be induced so won't be allowed to go over due again this time! (Scans and induced for reasons other than sickness)
And it's going a lot quicker this time! Not counting the days like I was before I had a one year old to keep me busy!

OP posts:
LadyMaryCrawley1922 · 22/08/2017 10:27

No, you don't know your body in that context.

If you wanted just "aw congrats on bubz hun" you shouldn't have posted in aibu.

You asked if you were unreasonable to rely on mn to tell you the gender, and yes, you were. Very.

namechanger2735 · 22/08/2017 10:27
