To think this a perfectly acceptable favourite tea/dinner/evening meal

OH thinks I am mad! Tonight I have not felt 100 % and had a cheese sandwich with some crisps for dinner.

We do this every now and then if we can't be bothered to cook.

We then talked about our absolute favourite meal ever and I realised mine is actually a cheese sandwich and crisps.

He agreed it is nice but absolute favourite?? Nooooo!!

Peanut butter, French mustard and pickle sandwich. You have to eat it quickly or it sets like concrete....

MaMisled · 20/08/2017 22:58

Add Branston or tomato x salad cream and I'm right with you!

user1492958275 · 20/08/2017 22:59

It's a nice change for a dinner meal but you're probably only thinking it's the best because you ate it so soon.

I think sometimes, ahh a roast dinner 'lets go for cavery it's my favourite!'

Or, yay home made lasagna, my all time best.

Nans beef casserole with crusty bread? I'd kill for that right now!

Etc.

Really my go to is always frozen chicken pops, onion rings and mushy peas. Never really feels good enough to my fav, but it is!

JsOtherHalf · 20/08/2017 23:05

(Seriously thinking of Tayto cheese and onion sandwich having read this thread...)

glitterlips1 · 20/08/2017 23:06

I do like a crisp sandwich but it wouldn't be up there on a death row meal. That would be a lobster or a steak.

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 20/08/2017 23:06

YABU, it's clearly a large snack or casual meal. Is there really nothing you'd prefer as an absolute favourite? I mean, it's a fine meal but nothing special. I might forgive you if you say it was thick crusty bread with cheddar, Branston pickle and you put Walkers ready salted crisps in the sandwich. That's a game changer.

GabsAlot · 20/08/2017 23:07

i now want a cheese sanwich

nursy1 · 20/08/2017 23:09

I get a right hankering for a cheese sandwich with tinned tomato soup every now and again. Usually if I'm poorly or tired.
I have a number of favourite foods for different occasions.
Friday night pickings I love wine and those pic-nic stuffed olives and roasted tomato pots that are usually 3 for £5! with bread and nice cheese.

BetterEatCheese · 20/08/2017 23:12

Put the crisps in the cheese sandwich and you've got a great evening meal! Yep, love a sandwich, excellent choice

KimchiLaLa · 20/08/2017 23:12

YANBU

if I lived on my own I would do this a lot more

Libitina · 20/08/2017 23:14

My death row meal would be a roast lamb dinner with lashings of thick gravy, roast potatoes and mint sauce.

liz70 · 20/08/2017 23:15

"I get a right hankering for a cheese sandwich with tinned tomato soup"

A favourite lunch in my youth was tinned c.o.t. soup with some tinned sweet corn stirred in, and grated cheese on top, eated with buttered white sliced bread. Yum.

FeedMeAndTellMeImPretty · 20/08/2017 23:17

JoshLymanJr you're an animal. Shock

Cheese sandwich =lunch
Toasted cheese sandwich =dinner
Toasted cheese sandwich + crisps = banquet

MammaTJ · 20/08/2017 23:18

I declare, I live in England, so no matter what I do, will never have to choose a death row meal, so can have many favourites.

Spaghetti bolognese, Jacket potato with salmon and salad, carbonara, lamb roast, chicken roast..........................

I will stay here and remain crime free and you can keep your sandwiches and crisps!

SenecaFalls · 20/08/2017 23:30

Grilled cheese and potato chips sounds just right for dinner. In fact, since it's almost dinner time here in the States I think that's what we'll have. Thanks OP.

pieceofpurplesky · 20/08/2017 23:31

I had cheesy beans on toast. Love a cheese sandwich and crisps salt and vinegar French fries

elephantoverthehill · 20/08/2017 23:42

I've had some kind of bug for the last few days, I've not been bed bound but not lively. What has got me eating again is tomato soup, crisps and cheddar cheese. Easiest and most comforting foods ever.

Copperbeech33 · 20/08/2017 23:44

sounds good to me!

Spicy breaded chicken wings and chips are my favourite although I've not found a shop that sells decent wings for years! Most places these days have anorexic chickens with no meat on the wing.amd limp fries. I buy the fillet from Iceland and cook it myself now. Probably a lot healthier than deep fried too.

notapizzaeater · 20/08/2017 23:47

Crusty white bread, cold (important) real butter and potted meat. My fav meal in the world, southerner DH always looks horrified when I eat this

AfunaMbatata · 20/08/2017 23:49

Toasted cheese sandwich pocket with crisps in the middle. Yum

toastandbutterandjam · 20/08/2017 23:54

I don't like sandwiches or cheese. I am very unreasonable!Blush
I don't think I like any typical sandwich fillers.
I do love crisps though!

I do love a roast dinner - top favourite of mine! Grin

AnnieAnoniMouse · 20/08/2017 23:55

I love cheese & crisp sandwiches.

However, not enough to be my Death Row Dinner. That would be Thai food, Green Curry, Pad Thai, Spring Rolls from my favourite Thai place. Sadly it's thousands of miles from here 🙁

hedgebitch · 20/08/2017 23:57

Meh to cheese sandwich unless it's toasted, with loads of cheese plus rhubarb chutney. But one of my best meals ever is slices of crusty baguette with a thick spreading of unsalted butter and a meagre dab of Marmite. Yum.
