AIBU to be annoyed about the car?

DH bought himself a veeeerrrry expensive car.

He ummed and ahhed about it for months before buying it because it was very extravagant but I encouraged him to do it because he works incredibly hard to provide for our family, could comfortably afford it and, quite simply, if that's what he wanted he deserved it.

Thing it, now he has it he won't drive it! It sits on the drive with a poncy cover on which he rarely takes off. He doesn't like to drive it in the rain (he polishes it for hours if it does get wet) and I can understand him not wanting to risk his pride and joy in the supermarket car park, but he is just done a 3 hour round trip in our 14 year old banger rather than in the beautiful car.

AIBU to be annoyed about him not driving the bloody car? I'd be very happy to drive it all the time if he won't.

Tell him to either use it or sell it!!

I have, but it's not as if I can force him to do anything. He's 63 not at 17 year old boy racer.

Get your bloody money's worth! I appreciate not wanting to ruin or damage - but you're paying for it so use it!! My DP was the same with our last car. Now he uses it for everything!

Why be annoyed? He could afford it, you say he deserved the car so isn't it up to him if he and when he drives it?

You can't encourage him to buy it treat himself then say well I don't think you use it enough and start moaning.

My dh has a very expensive car and he maybe drives it 3 times a year, dh money paid for it I didn't fund the car so what has it got to do with me?

Someone living near me has three fancy cars that live permanently under covers and only get uncovered to have their batteries recharged because they're never used. He has a normal car that is the only one he ever actually drives.

I don't understand fancy cars at all tbh, but surely the pleasure is in driving them?

BarbaraOcumbungles · 20/08/2017 15:53

What sort of car is it?

Tazerface · 20/08/2017 15:56

I don't get this at all.

If you buy a car and don't drive it, then what pleasure are you actually getting other than just owning it?!

And it irritates me that OP's husband is doing this let alone my own, and obviously I have nothing to do with their money!
