Leading a bit of a double life at the moment as I have a job but haven't told people as it's not a job that gets much respect.

My best friend says I shouldn't do it because it's disgusting. My husband says it's ridiculous as I don't need to do it as he earns enough.

I only do 4 hours a week so AIBU to lie?

I get this ALOT ! People say how can you work there as it's very dangerous and even call me selfish Shock as I have children!
Don't listen to anyone do what you want

It annoys me. I wish they were more supportive

...and less snotty about people caring for others would be nice.

lynmilne65 · 20/08/2017 18:41

Oh yes done it for years, knee deep in bodily functions!!!!

There seems to be something else going on here.......to lie to husband and best friend re this job doesn't make sense.
What is it you are not telling us?????

It is a hugely admirable and responsible job. I HCA on later life wards in hospital and initially had great trepidation about ensuring the personal care I give is respectful and dignified. Turns out I am very good at it and I truly believe it is an honour to care for people in their hour of need.

You have nothing to be ashamed of and everything to be proud of!

timeisnotaline · 20/08/2017 19:06

Wow. It's a very important job and your best friend is very shallow. Totally thought the job would be something sex related.

I don't know if there is anything else, really. My friend and I both come from affluent backgrounds and went to a private school and RG universities. I think she genuinely feels it's a step below and not really worth doing.

Dh, well, he's never liked me working.

Well good for you then.
That's a great thing to do, your friend is just too stuck up and thinks real life is beneath her. You go girl! Xx
