To be upset with "friends"

Night out with friends tonight at a crazy golf place. Arranged to meet up at a certain time. so happened to know that this was when the "happy hour" starts and it's buy one get one free. Great I thought, cheaper night. 5 of us going but it will still with out a lot cheaper. Confirmed with friends that it was happy hour and thought nothing more of it.

A few car issues when I was leaving so I was the last to arrive (friends knew car was playing up) but I wasn't really late. Walk up to friends, a few awkward glances exchanged and then one of them tells me they've paid for their entry already.

So basically they all paid half price and I was left on my own to pay for full price admission. Felt quite hurt really that they'd done. so were they being uunreasonable or am I for being angry?

No they definitely knew I was coming. They were kept up to date with the situation. I arrived no more than a minute or 2 after the meeting time (if late at all - I didn't make a note of the exact time).

no, I'm not frequently late. I have been late on occasion but so have no others. nothing that would really stand out

YANBU!
Cost should have been split 5ways!

piggleypiggle · 18/08/2017 23:48

Back no I have never just not turned up to something. yes there have been times when I've had to cancel things but I always let people know

I suppose I'm judging them by my own standards. If I knew someone was on three way I would at least wait 10 mins or so. even if they hadn't said they were having issues I would have still waited for a bit.

however I arrived pretty much much on time there was a queue at the desk and they all had already paid so must have gone in and paid early otherwise they'd still have been in the queue when I arrived

Twats. IMO five of,you split the total cost between you.

junebirthdaygirl · 19/08/2017 03:59

Are tbey a bit " stupid" that they didnt get the maths. Otherwise they are mean.

mogulfield · 19/08/2017 04:06

I find people in groups get overwhelmed by organisation. So I bet they didn't mean to be mean but just couldn't handle splitting it 5 ways and then working out how to pay etc
Did you have a nice night otherwise?

roses2 · 19/08/2017 04:11

I've had this happen regularly when there's a 241 discount involved. I wouldn't say it's done intentionally. It's just thoughtlessness about one person having to not get a discount.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/08/2017 15:03

just couldn't handle splitting it 5 ways and then working out how to pay etc
OP are you and your friends 12? Because unless your very young or there are learning disabilities in the group, there's no excuse for someone - at least one person - being able to work it out.

As for if you're often late and teqxhing her a lesson, how shitty some people treat their friends. We have a friend in our group who is always late, cancelling short notice. We don't teach her a lesson because she's 35 not 5!

piggleypiggle · 19/08/2017 21:55

No not 12 Grin All old enough to be able to divide something by 5 and no learning disabilities. Even if they couldn't divide the figure by 5 themselves, most phones have calculators these days

I can't get past 'crazy golf' sorry.

PantPlot · 19/08/2017 22:00

But yes, I think they could have split five ways

KinkyAfro · 19/08/2017 22:04

Why the name change?

If you can't divide by 5, divide by 10 then double the answer.

It's a mean and petty way of leaving someone out.

Pantryboy · 19/08/2017 22:21

It can't have been that much more surely though Op? I mean it's crazy golf ........ I suppose it was a bit meh to start working out how much it was going to be . You should have just sucked it up imho

ALittleMop · 19/08/2017 22:22

YANBU that was really mean
No-one buy you a drink or whatever?

NataliaOsipova · 19/08/2017 22:24

How much was it, if that's not a rude question? If it wasn't a huge amount and they were there at the time and just paid without thinking, they may not have considered it to be such a big deal (if that makes sense?).

user1492958275 · 19/08/2017 22:39

Totally depends on how much entry was tbh.

If you only had to spend an extra 5/10 quid then it's not really worth fussing over.

It's crazy golf so I doubt it's that expensive.

SleepingStandingUp · 20/08/2017 00:24

Irrespective of cost, my friends not considering me would annoy me. Its not hard to go oh Piggy isn't here yet, we should grab her ticket and split the cost!

Sprogletsmuvva · 20/08/2017 00:34

Took the train once with DP and 3 foreign friends. We got a Groupsave , and Network card discount for the 5th ticket. I just paid for the lot then divvied it up between 5 - wouldn't have occurred to do it any other way.

Gabilan · 20/08/2017 07:34

If you're on a tight budget 5 or 10 quid is a big deal. The bigger deal though is having to pay twice what your friends did because they didn't bother factoring you in.
"Is piggy here yet?"
"No"
"Well quick. It's 2 for 1 and there's 4 of us, lets buy the tickets now before she gets here"
Not nice, is it? It just says "we're the group and you're a tagger on". They may not have meant it and might just be shit at maths, in which case "sorry piggy, drinks are on us" would have been a nice gesture.

piggleypiggle · 20/08/2017 20:56

It just says "we're the group and you're a tagger on" yes that's how it felt!

Ok it wasn't loads of money, about £6 saving but I'd rather not pay £6 extra if I don't have to and the point is more that everyone else got the discount but was happy to watch me pay full price.
