To be fuming with the Tories and cuts

malificent7 · 17/08/2017 06:00

Cuts to our children's schools and education.
Cuts to disabled
Cuts to welfare
Cuts to NHS
Cuts to welfare
Fucking Brexit

Apparently there is no magic money tree but it is ok to spend billions on Trident ( while we criticise others for developing nuclear weapons. )

I expect you will all be here to tell me there is no magic money tree!

It turns to that because complaining about a problem without giving a working solution achieves nothing. The only genuine alternative to the Conservatives is Labour, so people are pointing out the pitfalls there.

Ultimately, we're spending more than we're bringing in - that has to change. A lot of us don't want to burden our children and future generations with spiralling debt. As pointed out upthread, the real answer to stopping cuts is to increase taxation, but neither Labour or the Conservatives could do it.

I don't think it's helped by any government in recent history (on either side) showing ability to manage money properly. If a 5% tax increase was announced tomorrow, the majority of people would expect it would be the tip of the iceberg.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 17/08/2017 11:24

Rather disturbing that people's responses to life and death situations is to offer a biscuit. The lack of critical thinking and emotional intelligence shows why this country is fucked.

SeaWitchly · 17/08/2017 12:15

I'm damn sure the increments have not stopped 2xboys. Just like they haven't stopped in other civil service and public sector roles (and I do work in the public sector). My DH on the other hand has not had a pay rise in the private sector for 5 years.

Aah, that old race you to the bottom chestnut.

But perhaps you just misunderstand what I was trying to explain and maybe I did not explain it very well...
I was referring to public sector pay cap, not incremental pay rises as staff move up the bands due to experience and longevity of service.

PeterGriffinsPenisBeaker · 17/08/2017 12:41

Love the way people just assume the public sector is constituted primarily of MPs and MID staff. I worked in 2 separate QUANGOS in 10 years and the scale of spending on unnecessary expenses was crazy. Having to spend budgets to justify the same level of budgets the following year was unbelievable. And colleagues were regularly trying to profit through expenses claims.

It all went on.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 17/08/2017 12:42

Of course there's a magic money tree. How would we afford Brexit if there wasn't?

How's the budget deficit looking now, with all this? We in the black yet? What a joke.

It's just the same rehashed rhetoric to keep the little people in their place.

x2boys · 17/08/2017 12:43

I can quite believe that Peter .

Cocklodger · 18/08/2017 16:28

Why are you bumping your own post? Confused

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/08/2017 16:30

bump? Full of your own self importance eh OP?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 18/08/2017 16:31

The two types of Tory voters have already made an appearance on this thread I see.

Righto Hmm

malificent7

Why are you bumping your own thread!?

HelenaDove · 18/08/2017 16:33

ive been following a thread on fb where someone on Universal Credit has been sanctioned due to having to do Jury Service.

16 August at 10:49
"Hi, put a message on earlier this month about how the job center sanctioned me for attending jury duty, even though I supplied proof, so I appealed it, and this morning i get this months statement, and they taken my whole benefit, and a note was added ‘Jury duty is not a valid reason too miss an appointment' Normally don't say much, but to the arsehole in the JC go take a long walk off a short cliff"

thatdearoctopus · 18/08/2017 16:38

my 91 year old mother thinks she can vote conservative and mess up my children's lives when the chances of her even being around while all these dreadful things come to pass are fairly remote.

Why the hell shouldn't she vote for who the hell she wants? Has she not earned the right at 91? And "messing up your children's lives/dreadful things" is a matter of opinion.

reportPost · 18/08/2017 17:24

What alternative did she have HelenaDove?

MaQueen · 18/08/2017 17:36

Totally agree Peter. I work in a private health care setting, but have recently done some training in the NHS.

The money squandered on pointless stuff is frightening. The endless, pointless 'meetings'. Staff deliberately dawdling and taking 3 hours to complete a 30 minute journey.

Nothing gets said. No one gets reprimanded. It's just one long, long, fuzzy, muddled car crash...

SilverySurfer · 18/08/2017 18:07

So original, we've never had a Tory bashing thread before on here Hmm. I'm a Tory and you forgot to mention that we also eat babies, I prefer mine barbequed Grin

Hope you're well reimbursed for bringing us this news OP?

Desperation? Gets paid for each post?

SoNouveau · 18/08/2017 22:11

My mate had a melanoma cut from her shoulder on Monday, she went to the Dr about an unrelated problem on the Friday and as an aside said would you just take a look at this thing on my shoulder?
A six inch scar later and lots of further treatment to come the NHS is squandering money on pointless shit isn't it?

And while we're at it MaQueen , how do you know any of this?
Don't you work as a dental receptionist, I'm sure you've said that before now?

I'm fine-voted remain and just voted Tory 😁

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 18/08/2017 22:21

Save for ire for these particularly cruel and venous people

Doesn't venous mean to do with veins?
Cruel and veiny?

I think the insult you are looking for is venal

dangermouseisace · 18/08/2017 22:35

YANBU.

My work involves contact with people in shit situations. Often people who are chronically unwell/disabled, being made to feel like they are frauds, and 'undeserving', when in reality they should be supported. The amount of times I have to say "it's not you, it's the system", after their benefits have been stopped.

SilverySurfer · 18/08/2017 22:38

Oh I hate cruel and veiny people, don't you? Grin

MrsSummerisle · 18/08/2017 23:13

Labour's still shit, sorry.

You could tell this from one training session? Just like you know the education system inside and out from working as a TA/cover supervisors in very odd circumstances.
