Who really gives a flying fuck how Primark pronounce their name?!

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40926473

but I also really want to know how you pronounce it so IABU really

I don't understand why pronouncing it Prymark makes it sound as if your trying to make it sound upmarket. Everyone knows it's far from upmarket, it doesn't make any difference how you pronounce it it's still cheap.

Everyone I know pronounces it Prymark, I've never heard anyone pronounce it Preemark. I'm in the south, does that make a difference.

And no, yanbu, can't imagine why the BBC would think it's news worthy. Must have been a slow day (silly season).

CommonSenseIsNotAllThatCommon · 15/08/2017 13:27

It's pronounced Penneys Wink

dollydaydream114 · 15/08/2017 13:27

I'm in the north pigsDOfly and everyone calls it Prymark here too, definitely not a regional thing.

LuLuuuuuuu · 15/08/2017 13:27

South East London . Prymark we say here.

thatstoast · 15/08/2017 13:28

I say preemark. South Wales.

ludog · 15/08/2017 13:29

@CommonSenseIsNotAllThatCom... Smile

EBearhug · 15/08/2017 13:29

Hampshire. Prymark. Who cares anyway?

Vanillamanilla1 · 15/08/2017 13:30

Essex
Prymarni Grin

user7841794168 · 15/08/2017 13:32

@Vanillamanilla1 Grin

South west and Prymark, though DS says it's Preemark. I thought Preemark was more of a northern thing to be honest.

Preemark
Glasgow

Kidsarekarma · 15/08/2017 13:33

Everyone Scottish I know says Preemark.

NotPennysBoat815 · 15/08/2017 13:33

I've never heard it said Preemark! We tend to call it Primani Blush

skyzumarubble · 15/08/2017 13:33

Its Prymarni round here.

MoiraRosesMeltdown · 15/08/2017 13:34

In Glasgow it's Preemark. The very fact it's being debated and discussed means it's an interesting news story. I'm a BBC journo BTW.

BoysofMelody · 15/08/2017 13:35

Well if that was all that way covered by BBC News, you would have a point, but they do cover other more weighty issues in great depth, so YABU.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/08/2017 13:35

That Has been all over everywhere this week.

Surely it depends where you are from and what accent you have as to how it's pronounced anyway.

The cynical part of me thinks it's timed to coincide with their massive Harry Potter product launch....

yawning801 · 15/08/2017 13:35

Prymark in Bedfordshire

BartholinsSister · 15/08/2017 13:36

Do some children go to preemary school too?

Letstryagainshallwe · 15/08/2017 13:37

South east london here as well but was always called preee mark when growing up by my mum so that's what we called it. She's from Sunderland though maybe that's why?? It was only when I went to secondary school everyone called it pry mark

BabychamSocialist · 15/08/2017 13:38

North West and we call it Prymark. As a joke we sometimes call it Primarché...

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 15/08/2017 13:38

I from SE and say Prymark and never heard other wise until I moved to NI where everyone seems to say Preemark. They also say leedl instead of Lidl which is plain weird, it means none of their advertising slogans make any sense.

lolaflores · 15/08/2017 13:38

it was always preemark in Ireland. I was corrected frequently when they turned up here in the UK. We have been buying their quality end items for generations in Ireland

MadamPince · 15/08/2017 13:38

Preemark, at least in NI

liverbird10 · 15/08/2017 13:55

Slow news day, I suppose!

''Prymark'' where I currently live (Herts.)

PoppyPopcorn · 15/08/2017 14:06

In Glasgow it's Preemark.

We live in Glasgow and everyone I know calls it Pry-mark. Haven't ever heard Pree-mark.
