Her facebook looks like this:

'The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away'

'You are so much more valuable and wonderful than you could ever imagine! Love yourself x'

'I have thrown away my television because I don't need it in my life anymore'

And close-up photographs of dandelions, etc.

We are old friends of 10+ years but this started about 6 months ago when she moved out of the city to the countryside, quit her job and started retraining as a holistic therapist. Last time we met up was constantly talking about how the mind 'really' works and what the body 'really' needs and what people 'really' want in their lives and what is 'really' going on in the world and while I am very happy that SHE has done some soul-searching and found what works for her, the smugness is driving me up. the. bloody. wall!!!

I know I just sound like a case of sour grapes, but truly it's not! I am very happy with my own circumstances and life choices but she is STILL driving me NUTS!! How can I stop myself from getting riled?!

and

...

AIBU?!

I say good for anyone who finds peace and is happy in themselves! But when it's a friend sharing quotes like that it's kind of like.. you're not our teacher mate haha

Funny site that

"eat like nobody will see you naked''

Love that.

Sashkin · 15/08/2017 14:05

ibble ha no, she sofa-surfs and borrows money off her family, then tells them to stop being so materialistic when they ask for it back!

She was also a "carer" for a disabled child whose parents were marketing her as a guru because she was non-verbal. She doesn't do that any more so it shouldn't be too outing to link:

www.grandmachandra.com

I'm sure it is possible to make good money out of Reiki etc (she charges £80 per hour), but she doesn't put the effort in to finding clients. She spends most of her time napping meditating. The e-book sold surprisingly well, a couple of thousand copies. God knows who bought it.

Tell it has been proven that social media fries your brain more than TV Grin

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2017 14:21

Mesegra I see ME naked so I eat accordingly, I care for my health more though .

TheSecondOfHerName · 15/08/2017 14:23

Life isn't all dandelions and no telly.

I dare you to add this quote to an inspirational photo and post it on Facebook.

Then unfollow her.

Mesgegra · 15/08/2017 14:24

Well, yes, I'm single and I look after myself, but i thought it was funny!

Sometimes I hear of people making money out of something unbelievable and I do wonder is it just their wealthier friends indulging them.

arousingcheer · 15/08/2017 14:31

I second the shopfront idea - she is using her fb to advertise her services. It's ill-advised not to have a separate professional fb, where you can spout all the nonsense your clients are looking for but save your friends from seeing it every day. But if she is this way inclined personally as well as professionally there will be no escape.

Just about every Fri dh reads me a mutual friend's fb posts which are always some (minute) variation on 'Fri with dh and bubbly in the garden. Feeling blessed!' or 'Fri with dh and bubbly in the garden #worklifebalance' etc (+ accompanying photo of dh/garden/'bubbly'). She is a perfectly nice person whose fb persona gives me hives.

Do you use Social Fixer? That has allowed me to ignore my mum's rightwing bollocks, df's 'bubbly' etc. socialfixer.com/

SomeBerryJam · 15/08/2017 15:07

Your mate chats shit.......

The80sweregreat · 15/08/2017 15:09

Block, unfollow and carry on as you are.
Life was easier without facebook.

alltouchedout · 15/08/2017 15:16

Sashkin ... her whole FB page is pictures of Hindu goddesses and other people gushing about what a beautiful light she is.

Oh this is so irritating! The people who join in fanning the flames of the ego! Surely the truly spiritual and wise should shun this kind of earthly desire to collect compliments and instead quietly get on with making the world a better place? The people I've met who have been truly lovely and caring to people have not been the same people who have a load of people banging on about how "lovely" they are.

Loopytiles · 15/08/2017 21:01

So she made money on property and is funded by her partner.

Loopytiles · 15/08/2017 21:01

Which is precarious.
