To think I can't be the only person in the world to suffer from 'cold bits'

Not bits as in muff by the way!

Every now and then I get an unpleasant 'cold' sensation on my skin in a localised area. Currently got one on my right thigh. Cold isn't really a great description, but it feels like the nerve firing like it does in sensitive teeth when eating ice cream.

If anything actually cold touches it then it makes it worse.

I've experienced this since I was a child but every time I try to explain it to others, folk have no idea what I'm on about!

Anyone else ever had this?? Tell me I'm not a freakish weirdo Grin

I "suffer with" cold knees when I get into bed. I can wear socks to keep feet warm but often need a hot water bottle for my knee caps

PollyFlint · 14/08/2017 22:26

Isn't there a condition relating to poor circulation that causes this sort of thing? Reynaud's disease, I think it's called. Or is that something different?

Batteredoldchesterfield · 14/08/2017 22:27

Ooh Someday, you need 80s tastic legwarmers!

I get it on my face sometimes. Usually the same spot above my lip. I think mines like linked to anxiety, though as it usually happens in times of stress.

Batteredoldchesterfield · 14/08/2017 22:29

Polly I think Raynauds has visible symptoms like blue tinges. My thing is just weird sensations.

Very short leg warmers would be perfect SmileSmile

Batteredoldchesterfield · 14/08/2017 22:31

Alicia that's interesting as I was annoyed at something yesterday and a bit put out by something this morning. Mmmmm. I shall monitor in future!

Thanks for the replies Smile

I've been experiencing this exact feeling lately and have been so worried! It's usually on one of my thighs or head. Gonna have to see a doctor :(

Batteredoldchesterfield · 14/08/2017 22:47

MyStomachHurts I've never mentioned it to the doctor...report back if you do?

It's odd. Mention 'neck twang' and people know exactly what you mean. Even 'shooting anus' will get some recognition! But I have been alone in my 'cold bit' freakery until now!

I work term time and haven't had it had it all summer! Wink It's not that often, but it's annoying when it does happen.

Gibble1 · 14/08/2017 23:13

I get it on my flabby bits. It's quite strange!

sonjadog · 14/08/2017 23:17

What's "shooting anus"?

nomorebabiesyet · 15/08/2017 00:02

Yes i get random localised pangs of pain or shooting of pain. Then disappears. Can be anywhere. No idea why though

Batteredoldchesterfield · 15/08/2017 18:10

Ha! Sonjadog 'Shooting Anus' is something I don't think I've ever had, but two of my pals describe it as a shooting pain that feels like a poker up the bum!

One friend in particular is very descriptive and told of the time he was walking down a busy street and it happened. I shouldn't have laughed, but the mental image of him jumping in the air while shouting "Argh ya bastard!" had me in stitches Grin

I suffer with Raynauds and this is nothing like I get. Raynauds is in your extremities hands, feet, ears, nose,...nipples... Blush I only suffer nose hands and feet luckily.

Make a diary of where and when you get the sensation and what has happened that day or what you have done. See if there is a regular correlation. Might help narrow it down and see your GP if you are worried.

MyStomachHurts · 16/08/2017 13:07

Shooting anus is beyond any pain I have ever experienced

MaximaDeWit · 16/08/2017 13:09

I get something similar to this on the outside edge of my cheeks, just under my eyes. Always when I eat goats cheese. A tingling, cold feeling and I feel like if I touch the skin it should be wet but it never is. Weird

MaximaDeWit · 16/08/2017 13:10

shooting anus is known as "Stabby bum pain" in our house

AlmostAJillSandwich · 16/08/2017 13:16

I get raynauds in my nipples it is the worst pain imagineable. Sympathies for your cold bits op, i get the opposite, a feeling of extreme radiating heat in my thighs sometimes.
