Totally irrational dislike for actors/actresses??

What is it about certain actors/actresses that just make you dislike them for no reason at all?
I was just looking at the web and Melissa George (Home and Away, and others) and i just really don't like her. I have no idea why though? I don't dislike other female actresses?

do you dislike anyone famous for no reason?

Graphista "Lorraine kelly - her blind support of a certain infamous couple connected to a famous crime."

What infamous couple?

squoosh · 14/08/2017 00:20

Scarlet johansson. Always looks gormless!

I agree, there's something bovine about her. The dead eyes and the open mouth.

PetalHead · 14/08/2017 00:22

And Angelina, it's not really her in herself, but just that every man I've ever been out with thinks she's the dog's bollocks, and I just can't see it and it's really irritating. I wouldn't mind them fancying Scarlett Johannsen or Juliette Binoche etc, then I could at least see their point.

PetalHead · 14/08/2017 00:24

X-post about SJ! But she is quite va-va-voom.

oslolou · 14/08/2017 00:26

Geri Horner - Girl power rubbish was so awful, she can barely string a sentance together

SpecialDelivery22 · 14/08/2017 00:30

Another for Emma Watson here...she just creeps me out with her imaginary grandeur Hmm
Lots more but I can't think of them at the min Wine

AllToadsLeadToHome · 14/08/2017 01:15

Fizz in Coronation St. I am sure she never used to be so whiney.

musicalsangeloftheopera · 14/08/2017 01:30

Tom Cruise
Brad Pitt
Kristen Stewart

LesPins · 14/08/2017 01:44

Emma Watson and Daniel radcliffe. They are far too important now to do anything related to Harry Potter (e.g. Universal Studios dialogue for rides etc featuring the characters) even though they are both unremarkable individuals who'd never have been famous without that first lucky break. So self important.

steff13 · 14/08/2017 01:46

What infamous couple?

I don't know who she is, but I'm guessing the couple is a certain one we're not allowed to mention on here, or we'll all get sued.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 14/08/2017 02:10

Tom Hiddleston since that underwear shoot. My eyes. And that awful Oscars speech.

But the above are all obviously completely rational reasons for dislike, so probably not right for this thread.

FrankiesKnuckle · 14/08/2017 02:23

Yy to Scarlett smug Johansson. It's a true irrational dislike, I can't articulate why I just can't stand her.

Liiinoo · 14/08/2017 02:32

Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Keira Knightley - all make my skin crawl.

but I would watch James McAvoy/Corden read out the phone book. I love them both. In fact if they read the phone book together I would probably buy the DVD. And the directors cut.

lizzieoak · 14/08/2017 02:33

Jennifer Saunders - she finds herself terribly funny which to me ruins her attempts at comedy. But I grant that this is a minority opinion.

Benedict Cumberbatch has a lovely voice but looks like an otter (can't help that) & there's few roles that he's taken where I've believed him as the character.

MrsToddsShortcut · 14/08/2017 02:49

Keira too - just for that scene in Love Actually when she watches the wedding video and says "Oh! Bingo!". (Although in her defence it is an AWFUL line)

Emma Watson
Chevy Chase
Brad Pitt
Johnny Depp - even before he was outed as an abuser.
Justin Fletcher - I will not be remotely surprised if it turns out he harbours a dark dark secret.

Blondefancy · 14/08/2017 02:50

Jennifer Lawrence 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 her attitude irritates me!

Graphista · 14/08/2017 03:03

Yes it's the litigious Portugal couple that dare not be named on mn

FixItUpChappie · 14/08/2017 03:18

Actresses who get hyped up as "Americas sweetheart" often getting an oscar/globes nod for one serious-ish film role out of a filmography of fluff. Suddenly everyone's acting like they are gods gift to acting. In the vein of....

-Julia Roberts (Erin Brokovitch)
-Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line)
-Jennifer Anniston (Cake)
-Angelina Jolie (Girl Interrupted)
-Gwenyth Paltrow (Shakespeare in Love)
-Halley Berry (Precious)
-Sandra Bullock (Gravity)

I could go on but through no particular fault of their own I become irrationally irritated with them thereafter (snobby).

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 14/08/2017 03:26

I haven't RTFT so no idea if these people have been named 1000 times before but;

Famke Jansen
Jason Statham
Danny Dyer
Kate Winslet (great actor obviously, but just can't seem to like her in interviews etc. Irrational indeed.)

I don't dislike Keira Knightley as such, but I do find she seems to play exactly the same role in everything she's in. I'm not sure that makes her a terribly good actor TBH.

There are more I can't think of just now - mainly because they're just not very good or convincing actors rather than any personal dislike.

vikingprincess81 · 14/08/2017 03:27

Seem to have found my people here! To add to earlier ones -
Julia Roberts
Martin Freeman (I think it's because he strikes me as being an angry short man and probably a dick too plus he always plays Tim from the office!)
Tess Daly
Kirsty Gallagher
Dunno why but it amuses dh when they come on telly and I curse them

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 14/08/2017 03:30

I've just seen Lorraine Kelly mentioned. Absolutely annoying in the extreme! Not an actor though.....

I hate the way she manages to reduce every interview down to the level of how hard it is to get good shoes to match an orange dress (for example). She has some really interesting guests on, but seems incapable of doing anything other than giggling at them & making patronising small talk.

sazza76 · 14/08/2017 03:38

Another vote for Keira Knightly. I thought it was just me!
Vannessa Feltz
Eammon and Ruth Holmes
Melanie Sykes
Kylie

headinhands · 14/08/2017 05:59

Chevy Chase

Wash your bloody mouth out!! Grin

fantasmasgoria1 · 14/08/2017 06:27

Danny dyer, milla jovovich, Adam sandler, there are a few I don't like because I feel their acting skills are not up to much! Love denzel Washington, Micheal Caine! Agree with many of the others people have said but James mcavoy whilst I don't find him attractive I have seen a few of his films and found them to be good!

shockshockhorror · 14/08/2017 06:41

Jennifer Lawrence. She seems very "cool girlfriend", "one of the lads" and I just feel she has no sisterhood about her.

Grin I know absolutely nothing about the woman, she's probably lovely!
