To be irritated by Mo Farah getting his children on the track for photos...

I'm probably bring irrationally irritated but I get annoyed by all sports people who bring their children onto the sports "arena" - whether the track or the snooker hall or wherever - when they're doing the photo call. Lovely to hear them thank their families for their support but....

YABU! It's really nice seeing a man parent publicly. Otherwise it's always just "Mrs X, mother of three, just won the Olympics, but let's continue talking about her childcare arrangements instead".

Elendon · 13/08/2017 10:41

Congratulations to all the athletes in this great and entertaining event.

Well done to another super Saturday.

As for the OP? ....your point being?.....

RedHelenB · 13/08/2017 10:42

YABU -They were only there on the podium cos it was his last track event I liked the way the other medallists were in the photo too

glitterlips1 · 13/08/2017 10:44

I think it is lovely. I would do it too.

Topseyt · 13/08/2017 10:46

I always think it is lovely seeing these athletes with their families after an important race.

You must be on the lookout for something to get irritated about!

Grilledaubergines · 13/08/2017 10:46

I wonder how their mother entertained them between Mo's events? More people would agree with you if you were just annoyed they were there in the first place.

Why would anyone be annoyed that his family were there?

SandyY2K · 13/08/2017 10:50

It's his last track race. I can't imagine why it bothers you. Jealousy maybe?

@VladmirsPoutine I hear you.

She got with him for the money. He asked her out before and she turned him down.

NoParticularPattern · 13/08/2017 10:50

Who pissed on your chips? I can only think you've gone out of your way to be pissed off about something that so many other people think is pretty much universally lovely.

Get a hobby or something- being eternally pissed off doesn't count.

TatterdemalionAspie · 13/08/2017 10:51

Yes, YABVVVVVU. HTH. Hmm

Seeing his eldest daughter crying last night made me cry too. ❤️

coconutpie · 13/08/2017 10:53

You are some misery eh OP? YABVU.

Deadsouls · 13/08/2017 10:54

I think maybe this is a 'let watch and see how many people I can get to react' type of thread

JacquesHammer · 13/08/2017 10:55

Ah. Excellet role model and all round nice guy finishes one aspect of his career.

OP complains about sharing his moment with his family and other posters speculate that his wife is a gold-digger.

Keeping it classy people.

OnionKnight · 13/08/2017 10:56

Oh bore off.

PortiaCastis · 13/08/2017 10:57

Well done to Sir Mo on being a family man and not afraid to show it.

HeartburnCentral · 13/08/2017 10:58

They are celebrating an achievement with their children and loved ones. All athletes and Snooker players sacrifice a lot of time away from their families to train.

derxa · 13/08/2017 11:00

Truly boring.

Rossigigi · 13/08/2017 11:04

Stop being a grouch OP

redsquirrel2 · 13/08/2017 12:30

Negativos! Don't be such a misery OP.

Asalways · 13/08/2017 12:33

Hmm. He's barely there for them during the year so not sure how much parenting he actually does. I bet he's hard to be married to!

Longislandicetee · 13/08/2017 12:45

YABMassivelyU!

It's not just him that makes the sacrifices, it's the whole family. He made sure they were a part of his big night. He looked gutted to have won the silver and only cheered up a little bit after a hug from his wife.

If only more blokes with stellar successful careers would acknowledge that the reason why they are where they are is because of the support their spouse gives them. Whether it's being there to deal with the depression after a set back or the fact that for much of the year, their wife is sole parenting. Because believe me I have been surrounded by people like this for over 20 years and whatever they spout when they're at home, that's not what they say when they're at work. In that (and many other) respects, Mo is a great role model.

For the mean spirited posters talking about his wife being with him for the money....i have no words.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 13/08/2017 12:53

Most athletes his age don't have kids, so it's quite unusual to have your kids in the crowd. Usually when athletes have relatives in the crowd it's their parents. Doesn't bother me that he brings them on the track - a lot of footballers do it on the last day of the season.

StepAwayFromCake · 13/08/2017 12:59

Watching that segment last night, what irritated me was the way spectators took advantage of him. There he is, good-naturedly signing autographs, high-fiving, smiling for selfies, and people - total strangers - think it's OK to grab him by the face, head, waist. What, he's to be allowed no personal space? He's public property? Worse yet, most of the selfie-takers then just turned away with no eye-contact or even a "Thanks, Mo. Well done!"

Showing that he's proud of his family, grateful for their sacrifices and acknowledges their contribution in helping him get where he's got - that's lovely, and nothing to get irritated about.

Allthebestnamesareused · 13/08/2017 13:03

Yes how very silly of me to include my family in my graduation pics when I qualified as a mature student. How very silly of me to think that they may be proud of me and of me to want to to share my special time with the people that mattered most to me.

YABU.

LAlady · 13/08/2017 13:04

What?!
YABU

KurriKurri · 13/08/2017 13:08

No - I think he has a lovely family, that he clearly adores why shouldn't he have them share his moment if that's what he chooses to do - I think he's bloody earned the right frankly, he's been a fantastic role model for kids keen on athletics. He is a good and gracious man.

Would much rather see Mo and his gorgeous kids, than having to watch some American drug cheat who shouldn't even be there collecting a medal.
