Was at my local Aldi lady earlier this week about to drive off when I heard raised voices.... I looked around to see a mother with a child of around 5/6 shouting at an elderly lady who had parked in a parent/ child space ( there were 3/4 other empty p&c spaces free)... the elderly lady calmly told her that she was awaiting a blue badge and all the disabled spaces were full... the mother than shouted " well that's not my fault" and stormed off... the elderly lady then with some difficulty started walking away....
I got out of my car and asked if she was ok.. she said she was but looked upset.. I asked if there was anything I could do/ help with and she said she was ok! I wished her well and went back to my car really shocked that a mother with a school aged child who had already parked on the parent/child spaces would go out of her way to be so vile...

I later heard from a friend that this mother posted what happened on Facebook ... including her shouting at an elderly lady and was practically applauded for it with a lot of likes and even a few comments like she should have scratched the ladies car... my friend reported the status but Facebook said it didn't violate their standards.

I cannot believe that another person could go out of their way to be so argumentative and lack such empathy.

Some people seem to have missed the point that there were still P&C places free.

I am also amazed at a car park in a big shopping area near me that has P&C spaces for children up to the age of 12! Totally ridiculous.

I agree with Cat. She wouldn't have said anything to someone who would give her a mouthful back. That's a power tripping bully for you, though.

If she's got children, and has told them. They'll probably be wanting to hunt her down. Its only natural. I would if someone had had my disabled mum in tears. I'd be fuckin nuclear. Never mind angry.

worridmum · 13/08/2017 12:04

What i hate is in my local tesco the p and c spaces are closer to the doors then the bb in fact there are normal spaces closer to the door then bb ones and management said its not worth the money to change the layout of the carpark and all they need to do is provide the spaces and if they wanted to could be put at the back of the carpark and pc bring in more money anyway so there needs are more important. Oh and a press campaign didnt change that stores policy

nina2b · 13/08/2017 12:07

I hope the vile shouter is reading this.

Coconutspongexo · 13/08/2017 12:09

What would you have all done before p&c spaces existed Hmm

Coconutspongexo · 13/08/2017 12:10

Worrid same at my local Tesco the disabled spaces are about 6 rows away from the entrance which seems ridiculous!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/08/2017 12:18

"I hope the vile shouter is reading this.

Yes and her vile Facebook followers who gave her abuse of an elderly disabled lady God knows how many likes.

Disablist nasty cunts

ladyyyglittersparkles · 13/08/2017 12:25

I'd have probably punched her. I can't abide people who bully people who are clearly more vulnerable than them! 😡👊🏻

deadringer · 13/08/2017 12:46

All of my local supermarkets have a few shops attached, there is a newsagent, an off license and a pharmacy at the nearest tesco to me. The disabled parking bays are outside these shops, so 9 out of 10 people who use them are able bodied and 'just popping in for a minute '. I never noticed until I started bringing my elderly mum (who has a bb) shopping but now it gives me the rage. The shops don't care. My mum can't walk far but could walk around the shop as long as she leaned on the trolley, so although elderly she doesn't 'look' disabled. Occasionally due to selfish wankers I parked in the p&c space. If anyone had had a go at my mum they would be wearing their arse as a hat. But then I don't suppose they would have a go unless she was alone and vulnerable. I have 5 dc, and have fostered and minded babies and toddlers, including sn kids and although I have found p&c spaces useful they are Not essential.

Waxlyrically · 13/08/2017 12:48

Astonishingly unreasonable behaviour, particularly as she had already parked in a parent and child space and there were other empty parent and child spaces available!

Freddiesfling · 13/08/2017 13:04

Just to clarify this lady isn't a friend but one of my close friends knows her vaguely and saw the post on Facebook!

b) you'd be worse than her if you did, and

My H has a blue badge as he has MS, but one day he had to use a P&C space as the others were full. A woman with a child about 5/6 ,gave him a mouthful saying she'd had to park "over there" as he's taken the space. She shouted to him to fuck off and dragged the child into the supermarket. I'm afraid I followed her and told her she was a nasty foul-mouthed cow.

MissEliza · 13/08/2017 13:55

Well done User.
If I were you Op, I'd post the story from your perspective on Facebook. More people need to stand up to people who are quite frankly adult bullies.

BitOfANameChange · 13/08/2017 13:57

Parent and child spaces are a convenience, nothing more. When they were full, I parked at the end of the car park for space.

Both my parents are disabled and have their own badges. On more than one occasion, I have driven one of them shopping and have been accosted by a self appointed traffic monitor when I've got out to get the wheelchair out ready to get my parent out. With these people you really have to spell it out, that yes, you are entitled to park with a BB.

One time, someone even demanded to know why my mum had a blue badge. I just asked how the fuck it was any of their business and refused to engage any further.

Witsender · 13/08/2017 14:10

For fuck's sake @Dippingmytoesin, I wasn't talking to you. There are other posters on the thread.

Coconutspongexo · 13/08/2017 14:19

You quoted what I say wind your fucking neck in

MrsTrentReznor · 13/08/2017 14:27

I was in a wheelchair for a couple of months last year, temporary so no BB.
I used whatever spaces I needed to. Most people wouldn't begrudge me, but I got moaned at on here. I couldn't walk and still got moaned at. Amazing.

nocoolnamesleft · 13/08/2017 14:40

A lot of people seem to be missing that it is very hard to qualify for a blue badge. When I was mobility impaired enough to qualify, it hadn't been going on long enough. Now it has been going on long enough, I'm no longer mobility impaired enough. So yes, when I was struggling to walk on two sticks, I used P&C parking, because I couldn't use BB, and if I parked in the usual parking, by the time I reached the supermarket, I'd be in too much pain, and too exhausted, to actually do any shopping.

And yes, I had someone have a right go at me.

Cocklodger · 13/08/2017 15:09

My relatively young and healthy looking nana uses whatever space is closest to the door be it p+c, bb or a normal space, and is perfectly capable of doing her shopping Hmm
She is a blue badge holder. She sometimes has only a few minutes to get to a toilet before she shits or pisses herself. Shuffling across a car park while desperate for the loo could easily mean it was too late for her to stop (it has happened before Sad ) it's getting to the point where she is too afraid to leave the house.
If someone had the gall to stop her and have a go at her I'd be flabbergasted and hope they weren't teaching anyone in life their horrible ways.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 13/08/2017 15:17

P&C parking spaces are free VIP parking for mothers. It's yet another perk of being a breeder.

Something breeding couples are loathe to give up - even to a disabled pensioner. Such as mother and able bodied six year old.

(What she did was awful, though. Yell at an old lady.)
