...to remember the days when a message deletion was a big deal..?

I've been here for 12 years.

Back in the day, a message deletion was a pretty rare beast. I might see two or three a week. Usually it was fairly obvious why it had happened; a common reason seemed to be removal for privacy at the poster's own request.

A whole thread vanishing was a real eyebrow raiser.

These days when I click on something in active convos there's a fair chance it's gone, and I rarely see a thread that doesn't contain post deletions throughout.

It's annoying me.

Mostly troll hunting now isn't it?

What is troll hunting?

MrsEzekiel · 10/08/2017 22:46

It's driving me mad that in the app it doesn't give you a deletion message, it just says "deleted by MNHQ". Idk why they have to full on delete the whole thread, why can't they just lock for new comments? I'd like to see what happened a lot of the time. I've seen a few deleted that I really didn't expect but because I'm on mobile I don't even end up finding out what the reason was.

Troll hunting is trying to spot posters who are telling tall tales, for whatever reason. It's not permitted by Mumsnet (trolling or the hunting of)
