We're on holiday. We have 2 sons aged 9 and 11.

Without fail, every bloody night one of them can't sleep, or has a nightmare, or a tummy pain, or some other ill defined problem.

How the fuck do you actually have sex when you have kids this age????? AIBU to actually want sex again before they leave home?

Quietly in the morning before they wake up. I thought that's what all parents did.

TheFirstMrsDV · 09/08/2017 20:53

Just wait until you have teenagers.
Unless you have a big house or very thick walls you are not screwed

Gincision · 09/08/2017 20:54

That would be a great plan except I am so so not a morning person and would probably kill dh if he tried then!

Yes, what ThroughThickAndThin said. Middle of the night is popular here.

GunnyHighway · 09/08/2017 20:58

I have 1 teenager and 2 under 10, the small ones are morning people and the teen is up until 2 in the morning. All sex is quiet and risky

PlopGoesTheWeasel · 09/08/2017 20:58

9 & 11? Blimey, they sound like 5 year olds.

Aquamarine1029 · 09/08/2017 20:59

Shut the door, lock it, and if they wake up tell them you'll be there in a minute. They're not babies anymore.

I agree 9&11 shouldn't be waking cos they can't sleep or disturbing you. They're not babies so just tell them to get back to bed

TheNaze73 · 09/08/2017 21:01

It's what 5am was invented for OP

Gooseberrycrumble4 · 09/08/2017 21:01

Are you wearing them out enough duribg the day? And giving warm showers before bed/milk/banana before bed

SnowiestMountain · 09/08/2017 21:02

Just can on here to say 5am!! Grin

Gincision · 09/08/2017 21:02

They're not normally like this, they normally go to sleep really easily but they are sharing a room while we're away which never works well (one wants a night light, the other wants pitch black etc etc)

Ecureuil · 09/08/2017 21:02

Mine are 3 and 2. I wasn't expecting them to still be waking me up with nightmares etc at 9 and 11! Please tell me that's not the case!

talonofthehawk · 09/08/2017 21:03

They're not toddlers... stop indulging them.

Gincision · 09/08/2017 21:03

And we do tell them to just get back to bed but it's not conducive to sex to think you'll be interrupted!!!

OP posts:
Crispsheets · 09/08/2017 21:03

Lock your door

Gincision · 09/08/2017 21:04

We've been doing loads of active stuff in the day, swimming, tennis, badminton etc

OP posts:
Tazerface · 09/08/2017 21:05

In the morning?! No thanks. The only think I want in me in the morning is coffee.

Gincision · 09/08/2017 21:05

Ecureuil mostly they don't but when they share a room it tends to go to shit...

OP posts:
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/08/2017 21:06

You need to just get on with it. If you want to swing from the chandeliers then that ain't happening. But just do it quietly under the duvet, it's really not difficult. (Just quiet..)

In the toilet when they are asleep. That's holiday sex for parents...

Farmerswife4life1984 · 09/08/2017 21:11

Give them hot milk etc before bed ? They are not toddlers . At 9&11 they can get themselves sorted for bed . Just be firm and tell them unless an emergency no interrupting mam and dad or walking into bedroom without knocking

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/08/2017 21:14

You're making excuses OP. Best wait til you get home then.
