Is it a MN 'thing' for the first post after the OP to be contradictory.

I have noticed it more and more when reading a thread that the first post is usually against the OP, in either an inflammatory, baseless or moronic way. Even if what the OP is asking/saying is completely reasonable.

Is it a 'thing' on MN or just coincidence.

OP posts:
WineAndTiramisu · 08/08/2017 16:59

DEFINITELY not, I completely disagree with you

Cacofonix · 08/08/2017 16:59

No it is not.

TeenAndTween · 08/08/2017 17:00

I disagree with both of you.

Cacofonix · 08/08/2017 17:00

Damn wine you got there first. Grin

imjusthereforasec · 08/08/2017 17:01

Damn, I should have put a first post to contradict myself!

Yabu Hmm Biscuit only joking! Grin good point! That does happen rather a lot now you mention it.

TriskelArts · 08/08/2017 17:04

Yes, but OP, regardless of the fact that your OP was about the price of coal/Christmas/your MIL's nose-picking, you are completely disgusting not to wipe down every surface in your house, including your children and pets with a solution of Zoflora. Gavel.

Grin
WineAndTiramisu · 08/08/2017 17:05

Yay, beat you all Grin

I don't think it's a "thing". Sometimes people just disagree.

The cool thing about MN is that it opens up other worlds and perspectives.

It does seem to happen more than it used to. The first few responses can set the tone for the thread and there are a number of posters that like to be argumentative/put people down.
(Waits to be contradicted)

It is response to our essay/thesis/debating skills we learnt at school, or possibly down to playground 'Tis....tisn't. Wink.
