Who pushed that woman over into the path of a bus.

What a complete and utter wanker - who the hell does that?

Thank goodness she was OK (physically at least- she'll probably be rather nervous about walking along the pavement now Sad

Thank God the bus driver swerved 😌 the twat had more than enough room to get by, the lady was pretty much walking the same distance as the man who was walking that way. Hope they catch the right man, that poor woman must have been terrified!

HelenaDove · 11/08/2017 14:52

And so it begins. Someone on Twitter still accusing her of kicking him and also accusing her of being after compensation.

BelligerentGardenPixies · 11/08/2017 14:55

I'm not arguing that that mitigates his actions in anyway. None of his hands should have made contact with her because he should have moved over if he feared a collision. - Is what I said Sqoosh, sorry that that is too difficult a sentence for you to comprehend, I'll try using smaller words next time Hmm. Or maybe you could take a moment to understand what it actually being said instead of projecting what you think is being said.

How he pushed doesn't change the nature of what he did and I have never argued contrary to that. The point I was making was that if you are going to challenge those that are editorializing, dramatizing and embellishing in order to blame the victim, then you lose ground when you also editorialize, dramatize and embellish. Wildly claiming that he body slams her in order to throw her under a bus gives the victim blamer's wiggle room to claim that the incident is being blown out of proportion because "hysterical women".

Stick to what is knowable - it's enough. What actually happened was a criminal act against a blameless victim.

squoosh · 11/08/2017 14:57

Are you cross?

MeanAger · 11/08/2017 14:58

Meanager have they said that "lots" of people named the man they arrested?

I have no idea.

"I am guessing that the police had a lot of people giving this man's name for them to have arrested him."

BelligerentGardenPixies · 11/08/2017 15:00

Are you projecting again?

squoosh · 11/08/2017 15:01

Projecting?

I was asking if you were cross because you wrote the rather bad tempered 'sorry that that is too difficult a sentence for you to comprehend, I'll try using smaller words next time hmm.'

treaclesoda · 11/08/2017 15:02

I'm sorry if I misinterpreted Belligerent's post but it didn't seem perfectly clear to me at all. And since I'm not the only person who interpreted the way that I did, I'd say that's proof that it wasn't clear at all.

However, the bottom line is that we are in agreement that a shove, with however many hands he used, was disgusting behaviour.

LineysRun · 11/08/2017 15:04

To be clear, the police made a mistake with the age of the man they had arrested. They said 41, corrected it to 50, then corrected it back to 41. 'Human error', apparently.

NoLoveofMine · 11/08/2017 15:08

How utterly ridiculous HelenaDove. The lengths some will go to blame a woman for being the victim of an attack continue to astound me.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 11/08/2017 16:26

Just saw a copy of the CCTV footage on the DM. They've hidden the " joggers" face! Why would they do that?! It just gets worse. If I see one more idiot claim the poor woman tripped him up first ,I'll scream

AztecHero · 11/08/2017 16:35

www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2017/08/10/taylor_swift_s_sexual_assault_testimony_was_sharp_gutsy_and_satisfying.html

noLove and helena I like what Taylor Swift has to say here about the attempts people make to minimise what happened to her an to place all blame for things on her.

OuaisMaisBon · 11/08/2017 16:43

Fluffy, that's outrageous! They've closed comments, too, so I can't challenge them. (They also have a link to a story lifted from a recent MN thread nearby, but best not mention On Holiday With Victor Meldrew)

NoLoveofMine · 11/08/2017 16:50

I agree Aztec - thanks for sharing it! I particularly liked her making it clear the only fault lies with the perpetrator.

Ouais this could be something to do with potential charges being brought against the jogger as I'm sure they shared the CCTV images without blurring before an arrest was made. I'm not sure as the BBC still have the footage up but on this I personally doubt there's a sinister motive on their part.

RidingWindhorses · 11/08/2017 17:11

Has this been posted? Pics of the guy they arrested - he says he has proof he was in the US.

RidingWindhorses · 11/08/2017 17:12

(Apols for linking DM)

DeleteOrDecay · 11/08/2017 17:21

Well if he really was in America at the time it shouldn't be too difficult for him to prove then should it?

Time will tell.

Increasinglymiddleaged · 11/08/2017 17:39

He is probably married though, some woman who he is a patronising shit to will know that a pair of runners have disappeared though

DH runs and I go nowhere near his stinking running clothes and shoes. I personally would have absolutely no idea if he'd binned some and wouldn't notice.

Happytobefree17 · 11/08/2017 18:27

Why is the jogger's face pixelated now?

Nicknacky · 11/08/2017 18:30

Because the case is now sub judice and that video is part of a prosecution now. That's part of the reason that careful consideration and consent from the crown office has to be given before releasing photos or videos of suspects in the public domain.

blueshoes · 11/08/2017 18:34

Police have super recognisers who can hopefully help with the identification by his face and gait from the CCTV footage.

BelligerentGardenPixies · 11/08/2017 18:39

Scorn is not anger but as you seem to struggle with comprehension, I suppose that is to be expected.

Bardo · 11/08/2017 18:40

I Wonder what lead them to him? people thinking he was a good fit, hearing the same name several times?

Redsippycup · 11/08/2017 18:46

This is a quote from the investigating officer - I'm really not sure why anyone (except the jogger!) would think they know more about what happened than the Police who have had 3 months and forensic techniques on their side.

“At this point she is the only person on the pavement. The footpath is eight to 10 feet wide — there is plenty of room. This is a deliberate act on his behalf. His hands come across and push her. Before the footage he is running through a crowded bus stop and managed to do that without hitting anyone.”

If this man is not the jogger this is very unpleasant for him - but at least the very strict border controls in the US will make it easy to check.

Happytobefree17 · 11/08/2017 18:47

Ah, I see. Thanks Nicknacky
