Who pushed that woman over into the path of a bus.

What a complete and utter wanker - who the hell does that?

Thank goodness she was OK (physically at least- she'll probably be rather nervous about walking along the pavement now Sad

If there had been a really narrow pavement with no room it still wouldnt be ok to do this - stating the obvious I know. There isn't any reason for this.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 09/08/2017 13:25

There isn't a raised pavement it's just a shadow but TBF it does look that way!

HipsterHunter · 09/08/2017 13:28

I'm amazed that there was a post earlier questioning why there was a pavement next to a road.

LOL

Ceto

I came across a cyclist doing exactly this. A redoubtable woman said loudly "Oh, I think you are" as she pushed her case out in front of her. And arsehole cyclist suddenly discovered he could operate his brakes after all.

I do this with my shopping trolley after a near miss.

SecondMrsAshwell · 09/08/2017 13:37

Personally, I think something pissed him off just before he got near this woman and he decided he'd take it out on her.

Seeingadistance · 09/08/2017 13:40

How people behave when running or walking on busy pavements doesn't apply here anyway. It's really quiet - only one person at a time passing the jogger - and the pavement is very wide.

Plenty of space and time for him to take evasive action.

But it wasn't an accident. It was deliberate.

NoLoveofMine · 09/08/2017 13:45

Personally, I think something pissed him off just before he got near this woman and he decided he'd take it out on her.

Even though this wouldn't excuse it in the slightest even if it were the case, he doesn't "take it out" on the man he passes a second or two before. He chose to do this to a woman and in my opinion that says a lot about his motives.

NoLoveofMine · 09/08/2017 13:48

And he's had plenty of those made up for him already by people on the internet excusing what he did, blaming her, or trying to find 'reasons' for it.

Indeed. The excuses being made for him and attempts to blame her are horrendous. A woman just walking down the street could have been killed by this aggressive man who targeted her and that's the reaction.

roselondoner · 09/08/2017 13:48

I live in Putney and walk along the bridge all the time so this has really shaken me. Very wide path usually lots of people walking along it and no raised bits at all just a pavement

Do you think there's a chance he didn't see the bus coming? Inexcusable but just trying to understand

VladmirsPoutine · 09/08/2017 13:49

Why are people falling over themselves (no pun intended) to explain away or justify his actions?

I'm absolutely astonished that anyone can not see this for what it is: Male violence, targeted at a woman by virtue of her being a woman.

NoLoveofMine · 09/08/2017 13:52

It's quite something this is on CCTV yet people still attempt to blame the woman. Shows how desperate some are to excuse violent men and dismiss women. Hopefully as it is, they'll find him, unlike this man who was never caught: www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/chiswick-assault-woman-19-shoved-to-ground-and-repeatedly-punched-in-random-attack-a3429646.html

The contempt for women and girls which exists out there is chilling.

IloveBanff · 09/08/2017 13:56

HipsterHunter "I'm amazed that there was a post earlier questioning why there was a pavement next to a road."

I've looked for the post you mention and can't find it unfortunately. I'd love to know who's stupid enough to ask that question.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 09/08/2017 13:57

Anyone remember the man who kicked the woman down the tube steps for no reason and she broke her arm? Was late last year I think. Did they catch him?

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 09/08/2017 13:58

And yes NoLove I agree entirely, although I doubt someone will be along soon to tell us men get attacked too

noeffingidea · 09/08/2017 13:58

vladamir we don't know if the woman was targeted 'by virtue of being a woman'. We don't know what the motive was yet. That is for the police to determine.

YellowLawn · 09/08/2017 14:00

yes, the tube perpetrator (in berlin) got caught and a 2 y 11m prison sentence.
www.zeit.de/news/2017-07/06/deutschland-berliner-treppentreter-zu-fast-drei-jahren-haft-verurteilt-06154203

NoLoveofMine · 09/08/2017 14:02

Thanks Cherry. This kind of thing is rather chilling and also shows why street harassment is worrying - again targeted at women and girls and you never know how aggressive it could become.

MeanAger · 09/08/2017 14:09

Do you think there's a chance he didn't see the bus coming?

Doesn't really matter if he did or not, it was a road, you have to assume there is always traffic on a road. It could have been a car or a cyclist. Doesn't matter. He pushed her into a road where he will have known there was oncoming traffic.

RolfNotRudolf · 09/08/2017 14:19

Do you think there's a chance he didn't see the bus coming? Inexcusable but just trying to understand
But how can knocking anyone to the ground ever be understandable? If the woman had fell in a slightly different way she would have hit her head against the edge of the kerb and could be dead now.
Why do we have to justify or understand the perpetrator's actions? Shock

LowGravity · 09/08/2017 14:23

Why are people falling over themselves (no pun intended) to explain away or justify his actions? Utterly bewildering isn't it? The footage is very clear to me.

noeffingidea No we don't know the motive but unless he knew the woman I think we can safely say he assaulted her because she's a woman given he jogged right past a man seconds earlier, I would bet my last he would NOT have done that to a man.

The contempt for women and girls which exists out there is chilling. Yes and it's rife, we only see or hear about about a tiny minority of these type of assaults and the only prosecutions we'll see are those caught on camera otherwise they'll be treated like rape, his word against hers.

I did a little experiment yesterday walking along the street, a large wide avenue. 3 men walked towards me in the space of a few minutes, not one moved aside and I only ended up moving because they were elderly, more fool me.

NoLoveofMine · 09/08/2017 14:28

Very much so. Even when there are prosecutions it's often scarcely reported. A 15 year old girl in her school uniform was recently followed off a bus, dragged into bushes and sexually assaulted in Twickenham in the middle of an afternoon - it was only reported in the local paper and their website. Another 15 year old girl was also sexually assaulted by another man in the same area, the appeal on this was barely covered. Different crimes to that in question here but all violence against women and girls. I really hope this man is caught but fear for the lack of consequences he may actually face if he is.

HipsterHunter · 09/08/2017 14:35

@IloveBanff I was quoting SnickersWasAHorse up on this page

roselondoner · 09/08/2017 14:37

Not trying to excuse him at all I think he may be incredibly mentally unwell or dangerous. Pushing her is absolutely enough to be attempted murder. Was simply wondering about his motives - was it a get out of my way shove or a I want to put you in mortal danger?

Doesn't matter either way my mind just always goes to the psychology of it all
