Resurrecting zombie threads

Papafran · 07/08/2017 16:21

Please, please, please stop resurrecting zombie threads. This is a note to the user @Iazarus I have seen about 10 in the last 10 minutes and you're the culprit every time. People find it annoying and the people who posted on them will not be around to read your comments.

Cheers

If there is a thread on something niche and non-time-limited I can’t see why it shouldn’t be revived. A particular paint colour? Obscure holiday destination? Why not?

peachypips · 07/02/2018 20:18

I think this thread is my fav ever Mumsnet thread. And I've been here since 2009.

TenancyTroublesAgain · 07/02/2018 20:28

Oh my god Grin

Ekphrasis · 07/02/2018 20:51

Why I fucking love mumsnet!

brokenshoes · 07/02/2018 20:59

That's what I thought too, @RainbowGlitterFairy re: the Lazarus/resurrection link.

malificent7 · 07/02/2018 21:12

Zombie threads are some of the best. Why not if current threads are duĺl!

Aridane · 07/02/2018 21:27

There’s a zombie carpet thread that gets reanimated every year. It’s brilliant because it’s such a dull thread

PanPanPanPing · 08/02/2018 07:06

... and it's back again, Aridane, Grin

Sparklingbrook · 08/02/2018 07:10

Nobody ever resurrects a Zombie thread with a handful of posts do they? Always the really long ones.
People then read just the OP and start giving them poster the benefit of their opinion even though the OP is long gone.

Tedious.

That carpet one though. I am getting quite fond of it. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 08/02/2018 07:11

Does this count as a Zombie? August 17? How old does it have to be?

PanPanPanPing · 08/02/2018 07:14

Sparkling, this thread was started in August last year with just the OP and one reply!

It was resurrected by the Pavlova recipe poster - although it was obviously a mistake on her part Grin

PanPanPanPing · 08/02/2018 07:15

X-posted!

Sparklingbrook · 08/02/2018 07:18

easily done. Grin Confused

On the whole resurrected threads are older than this and longer than this.

CadleCrap · 08/02/2018 07:22

Noooo! You don’t need the corn flour and vinegar
Just 3 large egg whites and 175g caster sugar

Then follow Delia below

For the meringue place the egg whites in a large clean bowl and whisk them until they form stiff peaks (it's very important, though, not to over-whisk the egg whites because, if you do, they will start to collapse).

Now start to whisk in the 175g sugar, about a tablespoon at a time, whisking after each addition until all the sugar is in. Now take a metal tablespoon and spoon about one third of the meringue mixture on to the prepared baking sheet, forming a circle about 20 cm in diameter.

Then spoon round blobs next to each other so that they join up to form a circle all around the edge. Now, using the tip of a skewer, make little swirls in the meringue. Pop it in the oven, then immediately turn down the heat to 140°C , gas mark 1 and leave it for 1 hour.

Then turn the heat right off but leave the Pavlova inside the oven until it's completely cold.

< completely missed point>

petbear · 08/02/2018 07:29

@panpanping

As this is a most amusing zombie thread, I give you one of the funniest zombie threads

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/752184-hauck-stroller-pound-25-Asda

Started in 2009 but with no answers at all, the OP finally replied to herself in 2012

Oh my actual GOD! 😂 That is so funny. Grin

Do you think, when the poster posted the second post, that she forgot she was logged in under the name in which she had posted the first post?

Ba ha ha ha ... Grin

I think personally that threads should automatically not allow more posts when there has been no new posts on it for a year. Doing that - and also introducing an 'edit' button would be a good idea. (I mean the edit function only needs to be for a few minutes, just so you can correct typos and errors, or delete anything you accidentally posted.) Not sure why such a simple, obvious function isn't available to be honest. 😕

PanPanPanPing · 08/02/2018 07:49

pet, IIRC back in those days there wasn't an option to highlight the OP's posts and your own posts in different colours. I'm guessing she found the thread, thought "oh, I bought one of those a few years ago", but didn't actually notice that she was the OP so just answered herself!

petbear · 08/02/2018 07:56

It's still very funny though @pan Grin

PanPanPanPing · 08/02/2018 07:59

Indeed. Especially since her NN gave rise to one of the funnier comments on the thread!

Aridane · 08/02/2018 09:48

Apparently Asda stroller lady posted again having drunk a bit and didn't even notice she was replying to her own thread.

PingPong - I had no idea the amazing carpet thread has been resurrected again

PanPanPanPing · 08/02/2018 09:57

You must have summoned it by woo!

Aridane · 08/02/2018 13:08

lol

I just love how such a dull thread keeps getting revived

ISpeakJive · 08/02/2018 13:22

PanPan I am sitting here laughing my arse off reading that thread.

Aridane · 08/02/2018 13:39

It's an awesome thread, isn't it, Jive? All the funnier for being a zombie thread revived multiple times
