Should he have told me his daughter is a twin?

I realise MN is not very step parent-friendly, but I'm going ahead anyway.

After a couple of months of a whirlwind romance with a gorgeous, gorgeous man, his daughter came home from summer camp and we finally met. To be honest, she's a bit of a brat. She clearly only wants her dad for herself, and is not open to me being in her life, at all. (She's 11 by the way).

Anyway, things are kind of fine, I made it clear to her that I wasn't going anywhere and just discretely made inquiries about boarding schools.

All fine, until we go to San Fransisco with the whole family for a wedding planning trip. When we're there DSD is acting incredibly erratically, and long story short, it turns out that she's a TWIN.

Apparently, when DH broke up with his first wife, they each took one of the kids. He moved back to California and she stayed in London.

That's weird right? The kids didn't know about each other, and randomly ended up at the same summer camp. Now I get that they didn't want to tell the twins, otherwise they'd have been shuttling them back and forward, but surely if you're going to marry someone, you should tell them that you've actually got two kids, not one? I feel like he's really broken my trust.

I've now got to go on a weekend long camping trip with BOTH of the little shits. Lucky me.

Have you considered waiting to see if the girls turn out to be friends with a hotel heir millionairess? Could be financially worth it in the long run ;)

Sorry to all those who are cross about this. I thought it was funny, but I have learned the error of my ways. Going to take myself outside and give myself a good shake, possibly several lashes.

Oooh, the wonderful Hayley Mills! I loved her '60s Disney movies!

I know I'm giving my age away but my little BFF and I got our hair cut 'just like Hayley Mills' right after Parent Trap came out.

You think thats bad? Ds (12) went to a fun fair and got really upset about not being big enough to go on a ride. Next day he vanished completely for quite a while. And i saw a creepy 30 year old man hanging about before he vanished. It was terrifying.

Thankfully he came home again unharmed. Just going on about spending time in a toy company and really liking hanging out at FAO Schwartz. WiBU to cancel his allowance or shall we stick with out current strategy of welcoming him back with hugs and never talking about it again?!

I thought it was funny, sadly you were targeted by a bunch of miseries.

OP it's a shame it's not sunny where you are, it's lovely here.

Sorry to all those who are cross about this.

It's not you OP. It's most definitely them.

MN is teeming with miserable lumps these days who are just looking to get annoyed by the most innocuous things.

The film comes on TV every few months - it's a kind of Saturday afternoon kids film.

In fairness I think tempers are a bit frayed at the moment following the David and Caroline stuff, hence the fact some of us are being a bit miserable about joke threads

I personally think joke threads are a good thing but hey
