Should he have told me his daughter is a twin?

I realise MN is not very step parent-friendly, but I'm going ahead anyway.

After a couple of months of a whirlwind romance with a gorgeous, gorgeous man, his daughter came home from summer camp and we finally met. To be honest, she's a bit of a brat. She clearly only wants her dad for herself, and is not open to me being in her life, at all. (She's 11 by the way).

Anyway, things are kind of fine, I made it clear to her that I wasn't going anywhere and just discretely made inquiries about boarding schools.

All fine, until we go to San Fransisco with the whole family for a wedding planning trip. When we're there DSD is acting incredibly erratically, and long story short, it turns out that she's a TWIN.

Apparently, when DH broke up with his first wife, they each took one of the kids. He moved back to California and she stayed in London.

That's weird right? The kids didn't know about each other, and randomly ended up at the same summer camp. Now I get that they didn't want to tell the twins, otherwise they'd have been shuttling them back and forward, but surely if you're going to marry someone, you should tell them that you've actually got two kids, not one? I feel like he's really broken my trust.

I've now got to go on a weekend long camping trip with BOTH of the little shits. Lucky me.

@YetAnotherSpartacus I loved Lisa and Lottie. So glad someone else has heard of it!

Underparmummy · 07/08/2017 13:41

We love the lindsay lohan version me and the dds!

LittleGwyneth · 07/08/2017 13:42

@CaoNiMartacus I thought it was funny :(

I've just Grin at ecuse's very detailed reply. The hayley mills version was better. My mum had loads of Hayley mills films when I was a kid. Anyone remember Pollyanna? now she was a brat

FuzzyOwl · 07/08/2017 13:43

I suppose it is raining here, but pretty sure there are more interesting things to post about.

Bluntness100 · 07/08/2017 13:48

I'm a bit confused about why post this too. Confused. Why's it funny?

Twistmeandturnme · 07/08/2017 13:48

@LittleGwyneth It was funny, especially those who reply in earnest without realizing it's a film plot. And the butler isn't gay!

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 07/08/2017 13:49

I thought this was real Blush

VladmirsPoutine · 07/08/2017 13:50

Bluntness100 It's not. It's a bit like when posters post as their cats/dogs or their toddlers. One of those things you're either into or you find generally a bit pathetic.

DorotheaBeale · 07/08/2017 13:51

OP, just be thankful you don't have to watch and listen to the two of them performing a cutesy duet when they can't sing.

(That song used to get regular nominations in Top Ten Worst Songs From a Movie lists.)

But the original of anything is nearly always better than the remake.

crazycatgal · 07/08/2017 13:52

Do people have enough time on their hands to post fake threads? Boring.

CoolCarrie · 07/08/2017 13:52

You think that's bad, my new housekeeper has turned out to be my ex husband!

squoosh · 07/08/2017 13:53

Anyone remember Pollyanna?

I won't lie, when she fell out of the tree I cheered.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/08/2017 13:54

CoolCarrie, Grin

Personally, I love things like this. It takes all sorts. I once posted a blindingly obvious spoof AIBU based on the Bloomsbury Group. I even said within the post it was a spoof. It didn't go well. Grin

squoosh · 07/08/2017 13:54

Threads like this are beyond lame! Just why?? Why bother?

All the responses saying how boring they find threads like this are a bit puzzling. Move on if it irritates you!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/08/2017 13:56

Forgot to say I loved Lottie and Lisa when I was a child, and Emil's Detectives.

FizzyGreenWater · 07/08/2017 13:57

Hayley Mills was a spy - I never knew that until recently.

squoosh · 07/08/2017 13:58

A real life spy?! Who was she spying on? Grin

This is like the time I found out Arthur Ransome was a double agent for the Russians.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 07/08/2017 13:58

What's funny about it?

If people have seen the film/read the book/whatever, they know immediately it's not real.

If they haven't and they reply seriously, they get laughed at.

It feels very cliquey and childish.

FWIW I like The Lindsay Lohan version best.

squoosh · 07/08/2017 14:00

It feels very cliquey and childish.

Yeah, that well know Disney Films of the 1960s clique.

HolgerDanske · 07/08/2017 14:02

I loved the original when I was a child.

Might watch it now!

HookandSwan · 07/08/2017 14:02

Haha Cake

Patchworkpals · 07/08/2017 14:05

Grow up.

squoosh · 07/08/2017 14:07
Confused

What is some people's problem? Some proper vinegar tits hanging about today.

Bluntness100 · 07/08/2017 14:09

Vladimirspoutine, I must fall into the latter category then,,,
