To bra or not to bra?

BeingMePls · 06/08/2017 11:37

That is the question?

Just had a little spat with DH about me not wearing a bra during weekends. Obvs wear one to work, but find them really uncomfortable and quite frankly don't want to wear one. I am of the larger boob variety.

I of course wear proper clothes 🙄 and I don't feel like I'm being indecent but he feels like I am.

Who's BU?

I always go bra less at home and I'm a 32H- so much more comfortable. Could never go braless out though!!

TickledOnion · 06/08/2017 13:47

Are you sure you're the right size? 38D isn't big at all and the right size bra shouldn't be uncomfortable. I can hardly feel mine. I'm a 30FF which is not that big. Get measured somewhere other than M&S. I reckon you might be surprised.

dementedpixie · 06/08/2017 13:52

I'm 36GG and wear a bra most of the time. I don't like the under boob sweat if I am braless

Macaroni46 · 06/08/2017 13:52

Personally I feel uncomfortable without one, especially the week before my period when I get very sore, heavy boobs. End up wearing my bra to bed they hurt so much. But that's my choice.
Your body, your choice

squoosh · 06/08/2017 13:54

As long as you're not turning up to his parents' house wearing nothing but a handkerchief top to shield your big jigglesome knockers I don't see the problem.

The female equivalent of those skinny grey tracksuit bottoms some men love that totally showcase their cock. Most distracting!

robinia · 06/08/2017 13:57

I would have to be comfortable and embracing the saggy boob look to go without a bra either out or in the house. Even at a modest 34B they pull down on the very rare occasions I don't wear a bra (Christmas morning!). A bra keeps them in a nice position and me comfortable.
But clearly everyone is different. For op the issue is just the look when out and about. If you're confident you still look OK or don't care about the look then just ignore your dh Wink

supermoon100 · 06/08/2017 14:00

If you want them to stay perky a bra is definitely recommended

EggysMom · 06/08/2017 14:04

I'm not wearing a bra today (38E) as I have a sore patch under one boob - which I got when sweating in a wired bra (for those who say "don't you get sweaty underneath"). I've just been to the supermarket and I felt extremely uncomfortable and felt only half-dressed.

BlurryFace · 06/08/2017 14:32

I always wear bras, as my boobs are quite flat to my body (after weight loss and kids they are as much loose skin as they are breast tissue) and I get sweat patches under them. But I've completely sworn off under wires and moulded cups unless I'm dressing up, they are awful. When you think about it, the boobs you see in a lot of bras probably barely resemble their actual shape.

user1473602935 · 06/08/2017 15:49

I really hate it when I see women out and obviously not wearing a bra, especially if they've almost made a point of their nipples showing through the fabric!

That said, if you're wearing dresses where you can't tell, that's fine

Boredwithmyname · 06/08/2017 16:00

I always wear one during the day and prefer underwired as I find them more comfortable and they give me a better shape. Non-underwired I’ve tried (many) are always either not supportive enough or hold them together in a big lump.

Boredwithmyname · 06/08/2017 16:01

But I 100% think it’s up to you and not your DH

Oldraver · 06/08/2017 16:10

I've started to go braless more and more. I do tend to wear one out if I thinks it's needed. It does take some getting used to the different shape, as we are so used to seeing tethered uplifted breasts.....but it's soooo comfy.

How would your DH like it if cod pieces were still de rigueur ?

Bluntness100 · 06/08/2017 16:12

Well you say you can't tell, but I suspect you can because it's making your husband so uncomfortable. I think if you couldn't tell it wouldn't bother him, hes mot just upset for no reason or at the mere thought of it.

As such I think it's safe to assume it obvious and that's why it's making him so uncomfortable.

I also have a large chest and I couldn't do it. From both the fact I would feel physically uncomfortable, but really I don't need or want the attention it garners. I think if I was out and about braless my husband and daughter would be a bit uncomfortable too. However it's your right to dress as you please and it's your choice totally

tigerdriverII · 06/08/2017 16:21

Good grief we're just brainwashed by the bra industry. I'm a 42 F. I wear bras with work outfits (usually, not always). Not ever any other time. On holiday at the mo and it's day two of restraint free boobs. I have had no complaints from DH or anyone else.

squoosh · 06/08/2017 16:22

I love wearing a bra. So much more comfortable.

Questioningeverything · 06/08/2017 16:46

I love wearing a bra- so long as it's a pretty one and I'm planning a good night. Any other time... nah.
Was recently measured, post kids, and am now a 32e. I was in hysterical fits of laughter, I've been wearing a 32c or 34c depending on where I've bought it. I've gone up three sizes and still think I've got tiny boobs. Oh was delighted, he's been telling me they're bigger than I think 😂
As soon as I get home, bra comes off. I rarely go out without one though- breastfeeding has made my nips sensitive, they stand to attention at the slightest breeze 🙄🙄

Demander · 06/08/2017 16:54

Wear a soft form bra top. More comfy than a bra, provides some restraint and support, very comfy.
No bra isn't comfortable with large boobs is it?
Who or what is DH? This is my first post on Here

GladAllOver · 06/08/2017 17:04

I really hate it when I see women out and obviously not wearing a bra, especially if they've almost made a point of their nipples showing through the fabric!

That says more about you than them. Why are you checking if they are wearing a bra?
We all (well nearly all) have breasts with nipples. They are nothing to be ashamed or frightened of and it's nobody else's business if they are bound up or not.

Unbra'd 36D here and I've spent most of the day in the park wearing a cotton top. So comfortable and relaxing.

Brittbugs80 · 06/08/2017 17:51

I need one (30GG) but evenings and weekends I wear a soft crop top type thing but I'm always underwired for out and work and then a sports bra on top for the gym.

BeingMePls · 06/08/2017 18:03

Omg that is hilarious as well as not hilarious at the same time 😡

What awful reporting too. I think the responses were 50:50.

Looks like it's their usual excuse to post stock pictures of semi naked women.

sonjadog · 06/08/2017 18:07

What a poorly written, non-newsworthy article...

BeingMePls · 06/08/2017 18:07

Additionally BU means being unreasonable not back up. 😤
