To bra or not to bra?

That is the question?

Just had a little spat with DH about me not wearing a bra during weekends. Obvs wear one to work, but find them really uncomfortable and quite frankly don't want to wear one. I am of the larger boob variety.

I of course wear proper clothes 🙄 and I don't feel like I'm being indecent but he feels like I am.

Who's BU?

Obviously we evolved without them, and of course they work perfectly well for their intended purpose even if they are hanging down to your navel. That just wouldn't feel comfortable for me though (34F).

Changerofname987654321 · 06/08/2017 12:21

I also find not wearing a bra really uncomfortable. I am 36Gband assumed everyone with big boobs founds bras more comfortable.

rizlett · 06/08/2017 12:21

I'm sure I've read stuff where they suggest wearing bras makes them droop more. I guess everyone will follow the ideas that support their choice. For me braless = more comfort even though I am 32GG.

Interesting though op that your dh feels it's indecent not to wear one.

Whiterabbitears · 06/08/2017 12:26

No boobs no say! I don't wear a bra at home either and I am massive of nork, they are uncomfortable and restrictive. I would wear one if properly going out but probably not if nipping to the shops quickly. I think its entirely your choice be free if you want to.

TeamCersei · 06/08/2017 12:31

I think it depends on your overall size.
My MIL has always been grossly overweight and even though her boobs were massive, they never looked particularly droopy. I think her stomach was acting as a shelf support for her boobs.
She's 're gently lost a lot of weight, especially off her stomach and now she had to buy more supportive bras.

LittleWitch · 06/08/2017 12:36

Try going out without a bra but don't tell him and see if he notices. Chances are he won't but if he does then other people may notice too. Maybe he thinks you would be embarrassed or maybe he doesn't want other men noticing you. Either way, it's really NOHB.

Piewraith · 06/08/2017 12:40

It's the weekend - you should be comfortable.

I also find it uncomfortable without a bra though, I always wear one even to bed. I would shower in one if I could.

Eeeeek2 · 06/08/2017 12:44

Completely misses point of thread - are you wearing the right size? The right size shouldn't be uncomfortable, I suggest going to a proper bra shop (not m&s) for the bras you need for work.

Tell husband to get lost.

PoshPenny · 06/08/2017 12:45

Entirely up to you what you do with them, but are you sure you're wearing the right size/style if you find bras that uncomfortable? I'm a 38g myself so hardly flat chested, but in my best fitting bras I hardly know I'm wearing them. I only hang free at night or after I've eaten too much.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 06/08/2017 12:53

I hate bras, and wear them as little as possible.

I am a bit larger of nork than I used to be, but I still go braless a lot, both in and out of the home.

Cant stand the feel of straps under my boobs!

Littledrummergirl · 06/08/2017 12:56

G size here. I bloody hate bras and only wear for work/dressed up events. The first thing I do when I get home is remove the bloody thing.

EsmereldaMargaretNoteSpelling · 06/08/2017 12:58

As a 30H the only time I don't wear a bra is in bed! Can't imagine going braless as it's painful when they bounce!

10greenapples · 06/08/2017 13:00

I never wear a bra at home. I agree so uncomfortable! But I would always outside otherwise I feel too self conscious. But yanbu

hana32 · 06/08/2017 13:01

Your body your choice. That said, I can totally understand not wanting to wear an underwired bra but personally find it much more comfortable to wear some kind of bra than nothing at all - at home I always wear stretchy bralette type things.

AdalindSchade · 06/08/2017 13:03

Since your dh knows you aren't wearing a bra, it is clear that your dresses aren't as structured as you think. If you are large of breast then it will be obvious you aren't wearing one, which clearly your dh finds embarrassing. Of course it's your right not to wear one but people will notice.

Elendon · 06/08/2017 13:05

I hate wearing them but do when at work. First thing to do when I get home is to ditch it.

I'm now a DD cup. I wish I could let them free where ever they be. But it's my home and no one says a word about my braless state.

PrimalLass · 06/08/2017 13:07

Who wears a bra at home??!!!

Me. Unless I am sleeping.

LoniceraJaponica · 06/08/2017 13:07

What dress size are you? I would hazatd a guess that you aren't a 38D and are uncomfortable because you are wearing the wrong size

In answer to your question everyone I know wears a bra at home

flapjackfairy · 06/08/2017 13:08

You only have to watch a documentary on some long lost tribe in south america to see what the end result of a lifetime of unfettered knockers is !
Triangular shaped floppy things that look like empty pockets hangin down to the waist.
I will stick to the bra !

dollydaydream114 · 06/08/2017 13:08

I always wear a bra, and I would certainly notice if someone with big boobs wasn't wearing one. I also think almost everyone, unless their tits are tiny, looks better while wearing one - but that's just my personal view. It's absolutely nobody else's business what you do with your tits - your husband shouldn't be telling you what you should or shouldn't wear. If you feel happier without a bra, it's entirely up to you.

DeathByMascara · 06/08/2017 13:17

As an aside, has anyone seen the ads on Facebook for the tata towel?? Hilarious looking!

Silverdream · 06/08/2017 13:24

I've just discovered bralettes . Thrown most of my bras away I think they're great. You don't know you're wearing one and they keep them under control.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 06/08/2017 13:27

The only time im ever braless is in the shower. Nothing to do with support i just feel completely exposed without one. I actually find most incredibly uncomfortable to wear due to congenital symmastia unless its a plunge style with no between boob wire bit. Not easy to find in a 40C/38DD/38E.

Ollivander84 · 06/08/2017 13:35

I wear a Molke bra at home, no wires and just enough support for me

peekyboo · 06/08/2017 13:37

I already frighten the postie when I appear in pjs, I'd probably have to pick him up off the path if I was braless too.
(No idea why he's so nervous, I think he's a fresh postie and not used to womanly bits at the door).
