as she will have to walk about 35 minutes each way to school.

Also school doesn't allow "soft sole ballet style pumps" so not sure if she would be allowed them anyway. I'd prefer her to have laced shoes like she had last year.

What sort of shoes do 11/12 year old girls wear to school?

My DD age 12 has had many shoes from Clarks over the years. Since secondary (now going in y9) she's had lace ups, buckles etc both chunky doled. The best ones have began those your DD is after OP, they have lasted amazingly to my utter surprise as they do only have a slim rubber sole.
Of course in wet weather any shoe will get wet and in the snow she wears a chunkier shoe.

Which are the DMs people have mentioned? Can someone post a link?

whatsleep · 06/08/2017 18:07

Can't she have some trainers or comfy/fashionable shoes to walk to school in then change when she gets there?

PoppyPopcorn · 06/08/2017 20:11

this sort of thing:

but it only goes up to a 3. There is a range without the yellow stitching, you'd never know they were Doc Martens.

Trainers and changing means buying 2 pairs though... better value to buy one pair suitable for everything.

My dd had a similar walk and wore shoes like the op all through secondary school, as did the majority of her friends. One pair per year and never complained about wet feet etc.

Where ds goes to school most kids walk or cycle 20-30 minutes.

From what I see most girls wear the lace up brogue style.

So no I don't think YABU

Thanks poppy

Alexandrite, these are DD's. Again, like the ones Poppy linked to, they only go up to a size 3. They are lovely and DD is smitten with them; she has been wearing them indoors to break them in before the start of term.

Thanks bunny.
