Our former PM and his £25,000 shepherd hut in the age of austerity

He had the salmon faced cheek to introduce the Bedroom Tax and disability cuts. Then he wimps out of office and splashes out £25,000 (minus any discount he might have received for publicising it in the papers) for a shepherd's hut in which he can churn out his memoirs about how he imposed austerity on the rest of us.

Surely he has a spare room in his Chipping Norton mansion in which he could plonk away on his laptop.

cos Labour has spent all the bloody money and sold all our fucking reserves

LOL get your head out of the Daily Mail and the Sun

Puggsville · 04/08/2017 21:56

is he supposed to wear a hair shirt and hide under a rock for the rest of his life?

er ... YES!

He should be tried in court. Alongwith Gove and BoJo.
I don't much like Alan Sugar all the time but he does hit the right notes sometimes.

CockacidalManiac · 04/08/2017 21:59

I usually avoid political threads, as they generally make me need a lie down afterwards.
However; this man has failed by every yardstick he must have set himself. Yes, he's very financially comfortable, but he's viewed by many people as a total failure as PM. He's caused chaos by turning the European issue from an internal Tory party tiff into a national disaster. He bet his reputation on that, and lost. He may well cause the break up of the UK; not a great legacy for a Conservative and Unionist Party politician.
I'm sure that gives him plenty of thought.

eddiemairswife · 04/08/2017 22:03

I don't think deep thinking is his strong point.

Puggsville · 04/08/2017 22:04

He's got lots of money. [shrugs]

And was pitiless towards those who don't [shrugs]

God I hate it when people on MN shrug!

He's a horrible piece of shit and a total coward. Hateful human being

ginghambox · 04/08/2017 22:06

He should be tried in court. Alongwith Gove and BoJo.
For what?

camtt · 04/08/2017 22:07

well I'd be disappointed if I'd spent £25k on that, it's just a garden shed, nicely painted. I've got three. They cost a few hundred each.

BabychamSocialist · 04/08/2017 22:09

Remember when during GE2010, Paxman asked candidates why they should be PM, and they all answered with how they wanted to change the country and why it was important to them? Cameron answered, "because it's something I might be rather good at."

It was always a posh-boy's jolly for him, playing at running the country. Now he's done his damage he's fucked off and left us with the mess.

The80sweregreat · 04/08/2017 22:09

He is a pain. I wont be buying the book.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 04/08/2017 22:11

It's awkward isn't it,

He's apparently very congenial but many see him as someone who fucked over this country - and here he is in his writing hut/pig pen blissfully free and immune from any repercussions.

SeaWitchly · 04/08/2017 22:11

DC is the epitome of the mediocre, upper middle class, white man who has great wealth and influence in inverse proportion to any merit, talent, wisdom or general usefulness to the UK common man/woman [not just his rich chum mates].

ShellyBoobs · 04/08/2017 22:13

I despise him for giving us the EU referendum but there's no such thing as 'bedroom tax' so automatically YABU.

PrincessLeia80 · 04/08/2017 22:13

I assume it's not been bought on credit or a gift in which case what's the problem? If fellow posh boy Corbyn bought one for his allotment he'd be praised for buying British

RortyCrankle · 04/08/2017 22:14

How original - a Tory bashing thread.

While you ooze envy over the hut (and who wouldn't love one) let me remind you of a war criminal who has been a tad more profligate in his spending - £57 million in four years: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/tony-blair/11337856/How-Tony-Blair-Inc-spent-57-million-in-four-years.html

Puts a £25k hut in the shade somewhat doesn't it?

calmanban · 04/08/2017 22:16

meh... rich man spends money. I can't get excited about it really. if he'd bought a 250 quid shed from b and q would it make anyone feel better? his money, his choice. i don't think you can shame someone for spending their own money

histinyhandsarefrozen · 04/08/2017 22:16

I remember after the ref lots of people on mn saying they voted leave so they could fuck over Cameron and the elites. Grin
Well done them. He looks very fucked over to me.

MargotLovedTom1 · 04/08/2017 22:16

25 grand for a fucking shed?! And Rhonda now you mention the sooty marks on the walls I can't stop looking at them. Get the char lady to scrub them off you scuzzy shites.

SeaWitchly · 04/08/2017 22:17

He's apparently very congenial

I am sure it is not difficult to be congenial when you are cushioned from life's harsh realities a la DC and SamCam.
Yes, I know they lost their son and that is an absolute tragedy for any parent irrespective how wealthy you might be... But I would have hoped that he would have had more empathy for those also suffering but no, instead his government imposed cost cutting on such a scale that it has left many essential services in crisis... including the NHS, children's services, mental health services...

OhTheRoses · 04/08/2017 22:17

Actually as a bit of a well off toff who met him a lot in the 90s he was a bit of a prat and I know a lot of people who are richer and more establishment whilst also being cooler.

BabychamSocialist · 04/08/2017 22:18

I've got less of a problem with Blair's wealth, seeing as he and Cherie actually worked for theirs and weren't born into enormous wealth like Cameron and his wife.

ShellyBoobs

ODFOD. Unlike you, I live in the real world. I teach kids whose parents have been hit by the bedroom tax. Maybe it doesn't exist in the Daily Mail, but it does in the real world.

roarityroar · 04/08/2017 22:21

I worked for Vote Leave so not really annoyed about the vote:

Cockacid - don't be so ridiculous. "The cry of the privileged"?? Who do you think you are? Lenin?

SuburbanRhonda · 04/08/2017 22:22

And Rhonda now you mention the sooty marks on the walls I can't stop looking at them.

That's the intention. They could have painted over it but leaving it sooty makes it look more authentic. Unlike its occupants.
