Doctor's appointment

I missed a drs appointment for my dd as I just wasn't going to make it on time. Anyway today I recieved a letter which says if one more appointment is missed she won't be allowed another one for 6 months! We can cancel an appointment but need to give an hours notice. So we will only be seen at the walk in if another is missed which is 8am-11am and a 2 hour wait. Aibu in thinking this seems pretty harsh?!

Missing the point again spectaculary there GrinHmm

Just googled the surgery and it's there in black and white! I would give the link for proof but not comfortable with people on here knowing my surgery

Have not RTFT but round my way the doctors' surgeries have a fairly small catchment and you can't register if you are more than about a mile and a half away. Did you really need to drive or could you have walked?

ilovesooty · 06/08/2017 14:58

No I'm not at all surprised you have no voicemail facility on your phone, or that you seem proud of it. Not bothered about being contactable if your children are taken ill or have an accident at school then?

Panda81 · 06/08/2017 15:01

Don't blame the poor and their restricted access and transport for bad funding and management in the NHS which is entirely a political choice.

So you think OP should not have found a way to contact the surgery at all, because it's a political problem? Even if NHS had billions more money to spend, you think it's acceptable to just not turn up and not contact them? Hmm

OP says she owns a mobile phone and pays for a landline and internet. Doesn't exactly sound entirely hand to mouth to me... what's the point in OP even having a mobile phone then? Surely the money for the mobile phone would be better spent on electric or food Confused
Not that I care what OP spends her money on but just sounds like the credit issue is an excuse when OP has landline and internet at home, and is using needing to pay for electric/food as a reason to not have credit.

If there was a severe road problem, it makes no difference if mode of transport is bus or car, or if you are poor or rich. Traffic would be severely congested and longer diversions for all on those particular roads. Which is a reasonable reason for being significantly delayed and missing an appointment, and more likely to have been accommodated at the surgery.

The unreasonableness is not contacting the surgery at any stage then complaining about getting a no show letter from the surgery - like it's the surgery that are being unreasonable!

10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:01

I didn't drive I was on the bus. I moved which is why my surgery is now no longer walking distance. I still just fit into there catchment though. As I said there is a closer one but when I went to register there they told me I had to go to the main one to register which is further than the one I'm already at so I just stuck with this one.

10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:04

I have a phone as people call ME. I got phone and internet when I was in a better financial position and now I'm not but locked into a contract! God isn't that hard to work out is it! Not that I should have to explain.

OP posts:
10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:05

Loads of peoples phones don't have voicemail. It just rings out. I guess we are all irresponsible Grin

OP posts:
Sirzy · 06/08/2017 15:06

So if you end up delayed going to pick up the children how do you let the school know? As you yourself have found you never know when these things would happen!

10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:08

I'm 5 mins from my kids school. Never been late.

OP posts:
Sirzy · 06/08/2017 15:09

You never go further than 5 minutes away while they are at school? Hmm

ilovesooty · 06/08/2017 15:09

Do you realise that being uncontactable in the event of your child being left at the end of the school day might be deemed a safeguarding issue?

Panda81 · 06/08/2017 15:10

Hmm OP, just seen your post in gardening.

The not being able to afford £5 emergency credit for your mobile must certainly be an excuse if you are looking to buy plant pots for your garden Hmm

Like I said in my PP, I don't care what you spend your money on. But it's a bit much to complain about the NHS letter and use money as an excuse when clearly you are happy to spend money on non essentials like plant pots.

10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:12

Schools called me loads of times for various reasons they've never once had an issue with no voice mail so let's not now say I am a safe guarding issue gosh get a grip! They have my landline!! Which has voice mail and TWO next of kins, so don't be ridiculous. No I always go home before picking my kids up most I do is go to the town centre to shop.

OP posts:
Sirzy · 06/08/2017 15:13

What if YOU need to phone school when your out though?

10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:15

Oh for goodness sake your so sad! Ofcourse I spend money on things I took my kids to soft play the other day wow shoot me now, all I said was I was not going to put £5 on "just incase" because then that £5 is gone and stuck on my phone when I might need it it's no good being stuck as credit on my phone if I really did need credit which hasn't happened yet! I could top up using my card however I'm not going to do that as a just in case.

OP posts:
10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:17

Like I said I'm always local whilst my kids are at school. I go home, clean, shop, take my other kid to park. I don't go anywhere far.

OP posts:
Sirzy · 06/08/2017 15:18

Your priorities seem way off!

Sirzy · 06/08/2017 15:19

So you can afford it you just choose not to have it.

That makes you even more unreasonable in the case of the OP and everything since

ilovesooty · 06/08/2017 15:20

So what would happen if you were stuck on a bus like the other day and you knew you would not be able to collect your child in time? What if you had an accident on your way to pick them up?

10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:22

I couldn't afford it at the time which is why I didn't call, this was almost a week ago now. I've since been paid however I am still not putting on emergency credit "just incase" cos if
I ever do need that £5 again I wouldn't want it locked on my phone not being able to spend it.

OP posts:
C8H10N4O2 · 06/08/2017 15:22

@panda81
Or you could actually read my post in which I also said OP should have called when she did get back home. OP has acknowledged this.
However blaming her for the state of the NHS when, even if she had been able to call from the bus, the appt could not have been reused is just ridiculous.

It makes a huge difference being on public transport locked into one route vs having independent transport where you may well have option to take an alternate way.

10greenapples · 06/08/2017 15:24

I walk to school it's literally 5 mins walk. All the things I do I do in the morning after dropping them so I always am home by afternoon.

Sirzy · 06/08/2017 15:24

anyone else feel like they are banging their head against a wall? Grin
