Aibu to think my friend should help me decorate?

I've just got a new house,I'm single with no family to turn too for help.
When my friend moved,I took two days off work to help her paint/wallpaper then another day to help her move in.
I didn't ask her but last Tuesday she says "oh if it wasn't the 6 weeks I would of helped"
Her kids are with their dad for 3 days a week and she doesn't work.
Tonight she's put on Facebook "bored stiff,to the pub it is"
I personally think it's a bit cheeky.

I personally wouldn't think she has to help you just because you helped her however in her circumstances it would have been nice for her to offer to help you out. Can you send her message saying "if your that bored you can always come and help me with my decorating"

It's selfish of her, yes, but you helped her to be kind, not so she would return the favour. She clearly doesn't want to, so she's not offered.

I just thought a friend would want to help after I helped them.
She knows I'm struggling but can't be arsed...typical of her really.

YANBU. I wouldn't be doing her any more favours. Don't be a mug.

Goodbye friend

SabineUndine · 03/08/2017 19:47

Yeah, I've had 'friends' like that . . . no she's not obliged to help you, but what kind of a friend wouldn't?

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 03/08/2017 19:47

Ask her. May be she's waiting to be needed.

Allthebestnamesareused · 03/08/2017 19:55

Or alternatively you could say _ "I could really do with some help" - she might not even realise you want to decorate!

Pellasalla · 03/08/2017 20:17

She already said she couldn't before I had the chance to ask her.
I was saying I don't know how I can manage doing this on my own and that's when she said if it wasn't the holidays she would help...
