How awful would it be to lie about new boiler on remortaging?

Have to add to mortgage to buy out ex. My solicitor has been sloooow and my offer from the bank expires next month. Finally got some paperwork from sol today and it asks for guarantee for any new boiler that has been installed while I lived here. We had to replace the boiler the week we moved in (5 years ago) but I have turned the place upside down today and can find no relevant paperwork - ex used to be in charge of all that stuff and I've asked him but the places he's told me to look have not revealed it.

WIBU to say there hadn't been a new boiler? I can't stand anymore delay - this whole business has nearly finished me.

I recently phoned up the company name on the front of my boiler and they were able to tell me the date it was installed just by giving them my address. I imagine they would be able to send you documentation if needed.

Just say you can't find it? It's not a requirement to have one is it?

Yes just tell them you don't have any.
