Done to death previously but always new members joining!

I am not famous, dont have any celebrity friends. It fascinated by what it must be like to be famous or have famous relatives or friends!

Anyone willing to spill any beans tonight to cheer me up!

Totally not on thread really, but re the widow marrying his late wife's sister - t'was very common place. Especially a younger sister who originally was sent/went to help her BIL care for the children.

@squoosh

What's up with Lionel Schriver? Confused

DeadDoorpost · 03/08/2017 03:30

My grandad used to be a photographer for Winston Churchill and King George 5th...

And I recently graduated and got to meet and chat with Dawn French, who remembered my dad from 11 years ago when she told him off on a beach.
Speaking of my dad... he got to fight Billy Connolly for a film once. And my nan used to get mistaken for a famous movie star at the time (that's her favourite story to tell us all).. And her mum used to be a hat maker for the royal family, and dated Sam Bartram of Charlton FC...

I also have a friend whose mum invented something to help guns in WW2 (can't remember the exact details now though it was a while ago I was told the story)

Lolipop123 · 03/08/2017 03:36

I'm definetely not famous but I have met a few big names in my life and I am friends with some people who are relatively famous in different industries (though no Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie I am afraid).

I also used to look after a little boy who did some ads on TV along with his mum. I was always surprised to see people recognizing him in the streets everytime we stepped outside. His mother was also on one of the ad and I found it very funny to see massive billboards spread around the city with pictures of the mother and his son playing «happy families» with a man and little girl they didn't know at all ( the actual father didn't find it quite as funny as me!Grin)

My famous status goes as far as appearing in the (incredibly boring) local news, doing a very tiny bit of radio and randomly finding a picture of me on an online article of the DailyMail. So nothing to brag about! Wink
Which is perfect as being famous sounds utterly dreadful and I am a rather private person.

was told though that my father used to tell the kids of the neighbourhood that he was a famous football player and they would ALL line up in front of my house for ages to get an autographe.
(I feel a little bit bad for them to be honest!)

Rach3637475 · 03/08/2017 06:38

DH is very definitely NOT Vinnie Jones! I haven't caught up with the whole thread but I don't think anyone has named him.

Rach3637475 · 03/08/2017 07:14

Oh just seen Freddie Flintoff mentioned as well. Nope not him either. I do know him though and he is a lovely bloke.

sunnnydays · 03/08/2017 07:21

Er.. my mum's cousin is the godmother to "the guy from jaws"Hmm

My cousin has been in a semi popular national sketch show... nothing to write home about but my dc used to love telling all their friends!

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/08/2017 07:27

Michael Eavis told my then dp he should marry me. I sometimes think that's the only reason he did! Neither of us is famous, we don't move in famous circles (unless you count politics) but we were just taking a stroll on the festival site during winter.

Cheryl is on here and was on the last thread.

Humm1ngb1rd · 03/08/2017 07:28

Not a famous friend/relative but was going swimming yesterday and had to stop myself from accidentally saying hi to very well known and successful athlete (oh the irony of us both using the same pool) that lives nearby. Its that moment isnt it when you recognise them but havent realised that you don't actually know them!

hollyisalovelyname · 03/08/2017 07:36

Andrew Flintoff is married to a lady called Rachael, Rach37Wink

Rach3637475 · 03/08/2017 07:44

Haha I know, poor choice of random name for name change there on my part!

Both Andrew and Rachael are lovely. I know him better than her but they're both nice people.

PiratePanda · 03/08/2017 07:55

I stood in front of James Norton in a queue for immigration at LAX once. I did that oh-so-terribly british thing of completely ignoring him, but I would have been so willing to go in to bat for him should he have any problems with Homeland Security.

He looked like a total scruff -- baggy white t-shirt and grey tracksuit pants. A friend who worked with him told me he always looked scruffy and no-one on set could quite work out why everyone thinks he's so sexy.

He did have a very, very nice expensive brown leather holdall though. I like a man who does luggage.

MissAlligned · 03/08/2017 08:19

Rach has anyone mentioned that cricketer whose mum lives in a Peak District village near Sheffield?

Icequeen01 · 03/08/2017 08:34

My DH is quite famous. He has been on Crimewatch 3 times .......,

Lovedlost · 03/08/2017 09:03

Weeeeeeeeel.............
I was once hit upon by a famous man. Not household name, but was in a soap. However, his wife (at that time) was VERY famous, and still is. She divorced him for philandering.
After this he became more famous on a US series that went for many seasons.
I gave him a kiss on the cheek, but knew he was married (arse), and who he was married to.
He was very attractive, and clearly knew it.
If I told you his nationality, you may crack it.

I also used to be in a relationship with a DJ in the 80's. He's not hugely famous, but many of his friends were. I could list a load of celebs who were either a drugged up mess, totally lovely, or up themselves (think man in VIP area who is alone, but surrounded by three burly bouncers. Nobody was interested in him anyway - and he was miniature!!
Not giving names, but they were fun times.

Sleepthief84 · 03/08/2017 09:26

I don't know anyone famous! I did say hello to a famous person once thinking I knew them because I was being polite and couldn't quite place their face 🙈

Can't imagine how horrible it must be to be really well known and lacking in privacy especially when you have a small baby. Who can blame the likes of Cheryl for hiding away for months? This morning I'd run out of milk so I chucked on some clothes, scraped back my hair and had a quick face wash before dashing out the the shop with DD looking like a tramp to get some hoping I didn't see anyone I knew (I didn't, success!). It'd be awful not to be able to do things like that without worrying it'd be splashed all over the papers with some sort of 'new mum lets herself go' headline!

MissAlligned · 03/08/2017 09:37

The thing is with fame, there's those who remain famous for their work and manage to go about their private business incognito then there's those who use the media, social and mainstream, to invite the public into the minutiae of their lives then wonder why they can't go out for a pint of milk.

It's like Prince William said last week, there's a very fine line between using just enough media to do your job and using them too much. Once that line has been crossed it's very difficult to go back.

Just think of all the very famous people we don't see photos of going shopping, we don't know who they're dating and we don't know what their kids look like.

peachgreen · 03/08/2017 09:57

@Lovedlost Oh man, that reminds me. I once met a guy who is noteable in his field (which I was part of at the time) - not famous exactly, but famous in certain circles - and we really hit it off. I went back to his and things got a bit heated, etc etc. After we'd, er, done the deed I noticed he had a photo of a fairly famous TV presenter on his bedside table. I was a bit weirded out - like, he was in his 30s, way too old to have posters of celebrity crushes - so I made a joke about it, and he said "oh no, that's my wife... didn't you know?"

I was absolutely HORRIFIED. He'd assumed that he was famous enough for me to know that a) he was married and b) who to. I most certainly did NOT. I've felt awful ever since although it turns out that his proclivities within his field are so well-known that I suspect his wife must know and be okay with it. But I feel guilty every time I see her on telly. It was my first and last one night stand, put me off for life!

EvelynWardrobe · 03/08/2017 13:22

peach, did you shag Richard Madeley?

BoysofMelody · 03/08/2017 13:52

Something his mother singularly failed to understand. That you can't be famous a bit of the time, once you start tipping off the press, dripping rumours into their ears, briefing against others, that you've made a faustian pact with them and you can't turn round screaming 'press intrusion' when they aren't dancing to your tune.

ThinkOfTheHorses · 03/08/2017 13:58

I know the guy who sand 'Agadododo' ..... yeah I know I'm the real winner here !

peachgreen · 03/08/2017 13:59

@EvelynWardrobe HA! No. He is definitely NOT famous himself!

SizeSevenShoes · 03/08/2017 14:03

There'd be a collective MN heart attack if I told you who I was Grin

lozzylizzy · 03/08/2017 14:12

Ilovepartybags

'My DD is quite famous.'

Hey Carole......

Scrumpernickel · 03/08/2017 14:13

Something his mother singularly failed to understand.

I suppose William has that wisdom from being world famous from birth. Diana only had her fame thrust upon her at her engagement.
