Come all ye Safe Crackers - AIBU to move without opening it?

Fool that I am, I chose AIBU for my first post. Eek! Here goes.

15 years ago we moved into our beautiful home. In the downstairs room (family room I guess) there is a large walk-in closet. In the back of that closet, to the right, there is another smaller closet, without a door. The bottom 3 feet is raised, and carpeted, oddly. Hardwood floors everywhere but there. DH poked around, and lo and behold: the raised floor (I shall draw a diagram if I this thread gets any interest - I know it is a prerequisite in circumstances such as these) lifts up! It is a carpet covered fake floor covering A LOCKED SAFE. A rather large, locked safe. Locked tight. It is built into the cupboard.

So here's my AIBU. Is it unreasonable to spend $500 or so to have a locksmith come crack it? We are preparing to sell up, and could find lots of other things to do with that money. We could leave it for the new owners to open, but where is the fun in that? On the other hand, what if it has even one thing of wonder (or value) locked inside?

Would you crack it?

Wou ld you take bets on what lives inside?

but what if it contains only a priceless Faberge egg? and the dynamite blows it to smithereens. Or the drill cracks in into a million tiny shards? Or the grinder thingamajiggy grinds it to a pale pinkish purple colored sand? oh the horror of it all.

Waddle a scale. Shit. May I delete this thread and repost with an amended (to scale) diagram? I do love Excel. Never let me down yet. until now.

As for letsfrickinmeasureyouforcementbootsDH, he appears to have got the message that I am not amused at his reluctance to treat this as an MN emergency. He has just messaged to say has further called two other locksmith companies until he spoke to a human. Said human asked for pictures and promised to call back shortly. "He's on Reddit or youtube right now" says Mr. Sceptical.
