DS's birthday cards

DS has recently turned five. His cards are still displayed on the mantelpiece and in the grate. He's had about 40 (class birthday party) so there's quite a lot.

My mum had a rule that they had to be down after one week Hmm

AIBU to have kept them up for two whole weeks?

How long do you keep up yours?

This is obviously playing on my mind! Wink

I think however long you want is fine.

I've taken DS's down today (9 days post-birthday) simply because the living room is filthy and today is the only day this week that I've got time to do a proper clean but anything up to a month or so is normal in this house.

Floggingmolly · 31/07/2017 14:40

Cards; a week max. Balloons until they're well and truly dead.

gillybeanz · 31/07/2017 14:41

I like them up for a week max.
My dh takes them down the next day, or doesn't bother even putting them up.

QuizteamBleakley · 31/07/2017 14:41

@Mrscropley - how many people are in your house? I make that 14 birthdays!

pinkblink · 31/07/2017 14:42

When it becomes a pain moving them all to wipe the sides, so a few days, then straight in the recycling 🙈 I'm awful I know

scrabble1 · 31/07/2017 14:43

A few days

RaspberryRuffless · 31/07/2017 14:44

Omg I didn't realise people leave them up for so long! It's like one of those things where you don't think people do it differently! I only leave cards up for a few days Blush

lozzylizzy · 31/07/2017 14:45

3 days max

Sevendaysinaweek · 31/07/2017 14:46

I've just taken the last stray Easter decoration down.

What I struggle with is how long to display handmade mother's day ornaments / 'best mum' plaques etc. The minimalist in me wants to get rid of them put them in a special drawer straight away, but the doting mum in me keeps them up indefinitely...

mrscropley · 31/07/2017 14:47

Me, dh, 11dc and a gs. .

AmysTiara · 31/07/2017 14:51

Usually a week. Up to 10 days.

frenchfancy17 · 31/07/2017 14:54

11 children?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/07/2017 14:55

1 week --though generally the cats knock them down repeatedly before that and everybody is glad to see the back of them==

AfunaMbatata · 31/07/2017 14:56

I take them down the day after the birthday.

NotAsYoungAsIWas · 31/07/2017 14:57

One week here

Beebee7 · 31/07/2017 15:02

A week is enough imo.

2 weeks is a bit too long for birthday cards. Never kept them up for longer than a week in our house. I mean why would you? Confused
