I can't believe we're on 7.

In need to go and catch up on the last couple of pages of 6.

Still no CFN OR ANYONE.

I'm thinking someone will be there tomorrow. HOPEFULLY.

My weekend has been dominated by this thread and I have wanted to contribute, but haven't found myself witty or creative enough to do so. Then I saw this:

I wonder how long it would take to read all 7 threads from start to finish?

This falls right into my wheelhouse, so I've done a little calculating for anyone geeky like me... Using the first 100 posts of thread seven copied to a Word document gives 3571 words. Take off (9x100) for the headers of posts gives 2671 words per 100 posts and multiply by 10 for a complete thread to give 26710.
According to Wikipedia, there was a study in 1998 which showed that the average person reads at 200wpm on paper and 180wpm on a screen.
Assumption 1 - people are reading on screen rather than printing first
Assumption 2 - the first 100 posts of thread seven are a good representation of the posts across all threads

26710/180 gives us 148.39 minutes per full thread. One of the threads wasn't filled due to name change issues, but let's pretend that thread seven so far fills that gap and makes it a round six complete threads.

148.39*6 is 890.333 minutes or 14.839 hours. 14 hours and 50 minutes!

Bonus calculation... The 100 posts cover about 15.25 pages in Word, so each thread would be 152.5 pages, six threads are 915 pages, assume double sided printing and that takes 458 pieces of paper. Not far off a ream!

It's fairly clear why my house didn't get any cleaner this weekend. Grin

Amazing work french!! Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 17:47

Squiffany's -

Several eons ago (in thread terms) there was a comment made by a poster Re Mablethorpe (it may have been something as innocuous as "Can I bring my 17 feral children to your bouncy castle party? We are in Mablethorpe"

Another poster Marilyn made a further comment, and it promptsd me to say "We'll always have Mablethorpe" - a sideswipe at "Casablanca".

I'm sorry that it isn't nearly as exciting as everyone's imaginations have led them to believe. But sadly, reality rarely is

gingergenius · 30/07/2017 17:47

@FrenchDucksSayCoinCoin sterling effort! Well done! 🏆

winobaglady · 30/07/2017 17:48

FrenchDucks
I've been visiting the outlaws... can you give me a precis please, from thread 6 onwards.
Thanks so much!

Ciaovenora · 30/07/2017 17:49

We don't need no listed windows
We don't need planning control
All and all its just another door in the wall.

knockedover · 30/07/2017 17:50

A nursery spin...
Ahem
O great garden diddle,
Builders on the fiddle
OPs not over the moon
Mumsnetters charged in, they brought such fun
And our baz buggered off with our jools

Bows for your consideration Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 17:50

Can we please decide now what thread #8 will be called

It may be a little early - some Significant Moment will suggest itself, no doubt.

Maybe we could have a vote - two or three alternatives voted on round about (say) page 38? Or page 25 if the CFNs come back and start a rush of posts!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 17:52

Should we have a meeting of the "CFN thread, Mablethorpe Chapter?"

I like your idea Bluebell

"Hell's Mablethorpians" has quite a ring to it. (Not sure if there will be enough room for all of the studs on the back of your leathers, though)

8misskitty8 · 30/07/2017 17:52

Just parking my deckchair in your garden watty !

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 17:53

Ah!

It was you, Ariston.

Thank you - you made an invaluable contribution with your simple, selfless, friendly wave.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 30/07/2017 17:55

Thank you for the various Maplethorpe explanations.

So if the CFN are actually living there but just away for a long weekend, we can expect them back this evening...

WhatIsThisWatt · 30/07/2017 17:56

Carly767
Has OP got stuck to the gorilla tape?

Haha!!

Still no news all Sad

I'm going to be in and out all day tomorrow- got loads to do, but at least I've got Ken and NNDN keeping an eye out.

Still a possibility they could come back tonight. Shock

Brilliant, french Grin

C8H10N4O2 · 30/07/2017 17:58

@gingergenius Thank you but its a team effort.

@faithinthesound is the Official Bard summarising the story and creator of the cast list. @lborgia developed the flags and cities and @madcapcat and @cedilla have been supporting.

Not too sure what we will all do tomorrow - hoping the CFNs return tonight.

CheekyFucker · 30/07/2017 17:59

Puppy picture (placemarking)

We'll always have Mablethorpe thread #7
blueskyinmarch · 30/07/2017 18:01

I told you all about a million threads back that CFN will have gone away for the weekend but no-one took any notice, did they? I am willing to bet they arrive back late tonight.

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/07/2017 18:03

Have you removed the tape?

gingeristhenewblack43 · 30/07/2017 18:08

Come on CFN!! We demand you reveal yourself to the mumsnet massive! Hmm

AristonAndOn · 30/07/2017 18:08

Thank you Personified I'm so pleased to have actually made a valuable contribution for once 😁👏🏻

FrenchDucksSayCoinCoin · 30/07/2017 18:11

Thanks pink and ginger and beach!
winobaglady I'd highly recommend the fabulous Trello board for catching up - trello.com/b/Mh00lwZH/the-cfns-tale-of-the-listed-building

DonkeyOil · 30/07/2017 18:12

Am loving this thread, and the songs are just inspiring!!

Have we had Punk, yet?
With a little help from the Sex Pistols here's 'Anarchy for the OP' by The CFN Grin

Right
Now
ha ha ha ha ha...

I am a CFN
I am no friend of Ken
I know what I want
And I know how to get it
I’m gonna destroy
My neighbour’s joy

Cause I
Wanna have a garden, me
Anarchy

Listed Building Regs, no PP
It's standing in my way and maybe
I’ll just go ahead and do it anyway
My future dream is all I see

Cause I
Wanna have a garden, me
as well as OP
In the city

I’ve got lots of ways to get what I want
I use the dregs
To bypass all the Regs.
I use my family
To build a door for me

Cause I
Wanna garden, me
Anarchy
It's the only way to be

Is this D.F.O.D.
Or is this 'me,me,me,me’
Or is this just Twattery
I thought it was OK
Or just
Another
Cunty
Council ideology

I wanna garden, me
Just like OP
And I wanna garden, me
Know what I mean
And I wanna garden, me
Anarchist
Get pissed
Destroy

LapdanceShoeshine · 30/07/2017 18:13

@WhatisthisWatt, as far as you know have the CFs ever actually occupied the flat? (I'm sure this has been asked before but I've missed any answer)

Bluebellforest1 · 30/07/2017 18:13

Shadenfreude I suggest Greggs on the High Street, plenty of room to park the mobility scooters on the pavement. grin

Tiger44 · 30/07/2017 18:13

They really never were wise men,
In fact they were just CFN stealing,
Tired of living with a windkw,
They wanted more without a sense of feeling.

This is how you remind us,
This is how you remind us
Of what we really are
This is how you remind us
Of what we really are.

It's not like them to say sorry,
Watty's waiting on a different story.
This time they're mistaken,
For knocking down a wall that should never be broken.
They've been wrong, they've thrown down,
Thrown down all their cigarette ends.
These five words in our threads
Scream 'are we having fun yet?'

Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no.

It's not like they didn't know it,
The planners told them and then watty did too.
And it just became so bad,
Friend and Ken and NNDN all joined in.

This is how you remind us
Of what we really are,
This is how you remind
Of what we really are.

It's not like them to say sorry,
The builders hide and sneak around so surely.
Watty's been a true hero,
For handing mumsnet all the necessary info.
We've been thrilled, we've been gripped,
We've put it all on a storyboard.
These five words in our heads
Scream 'are we having fun yet?'

Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no.
