I can't believe we're on 7.

In need to go and catch up on the last couple of pages of 6.

Still no CFN OR ANYONE.

I'm thinking someone will be there tomorrow. HOPEFULLY.

OP,

Am livid on your behalf.

The utter disregard shown by the fuckers this morning. Unbelievable arrogance.

We all have your back, however, and have many resources/ sensible advice/ a lot of expert knowledge between the lot of us.
(And your RL planning/ legal professionals are being informed from the very start, and regularly updated; you are definitely following procedure).

Use us for a sounding board, or for loopy distraction (we're good for that), as often as is helpful to you. Chin up, chicken.

What ever plant pot you put on the bench, make sure they aren't expensive or important ad I wouldn't put it past them to knock the bench and break the pots

redfragglebiker · 31/07/2017 12:57

@justilou1 Of course - If you don't mind staying in the North where it;s cold you can have my spare bed for a night or two whilst we formulate a plan of attack! Bring me a giant toblerone and I'm anyones!

JamOrCreamFirst · 31/07/2017 12:58

I think the bench might be a bit unstable. The planter thing with trellis might be better.

mistlethrush · 31/07/2017 12:58

OP, I would make sure that you INSIST that they have a 'Party Wall' agreement in place before any work is carried out to mend things!

gingergenius · 31/07/2017 13:01

Been on the Parking wars thread and been thinking about what constitutes harassment. Looked up legal requirement for reporting harassment so might be worth bearing in mind if you feel this is tipping over into something more intimidating.

madja · 31/07/2017 13:01

Just seconding the bench being concreted in. They'll never get that up!
Hope you are doing ok WhatIsThisWatt. A very unmumsnetty hug for you!

AlpacaLypse · 31/07/2017 13:04

So sorry you're still going through this @WhatIsThisWatt. I hope the seriously heavy bench gives you a bit of peace of mind.

justilou1 · 31/07/2017 13:07

@redfragglebiker - I'll be there! You can have TWO Toblerones!!!

Mummyoflittledragon · 31/07/2017 13:09

I don't think you need your grandma to back you up tbh. I think you sound quite formidable yourself.

Singing
Miss Jolly was a neighbour on a parking thread about 6 months ago, who helped the op because a neighbour has told his friend down the road to park on his drive and was also using the ops drive to park himself for his carer perhaps?... I can't link the thread right now. One of the threads has Nicolarse and Cuntaline in the title but for some reason the thread is inaccessible right now.

Perhaps someone else can help?

cakeforksareleftist · 31/07/2017 13:10

Here's a handy blackboard sign to erect (had to use that word) facing their doors

laureywilliams · 31/07/2017 13:10

So the builder is the neighbour? That explains a few things if that's the case.

Cuppaoftea · 31/07/2017 13:10

Anything in front of the doors has to be relatively easy to shift though. A deterrent blocking easy access to Watt's garden and making clear this is private property without being an immoveable barrier.

At some stage Watt will be required to give pre arranged access for whatever exterior work is agreed with the Planners to be carried out.

Lostinaseaofbubbles · 31/07/2017 13:13

Are they not going to need the bench to be able to be moved if necessary to be able to repair the wall.

I'm livid for you OP, and I would be so frustrated at this point that I would be crawling out of my own skin.

But this is unfortunately never going to be an overnight fix. Don't do anything that you might regret or that will make it harder/give them an excuse not to repair the wall correctly.

JaneEyre70 · 31/07/2017 13:14

My immediate thought OP is to get a builder in yourself, and put a railing in your garden in front of their door. That way, it won't affect their light but it will stop any access to your garden and stop them opening the doors fully. Don't attach it to the building, but as close as physically possible and that way, they will be very clear that they can't use your garden. And perhaps a good height so they can't jump over it!! Or covered in barbed wire

Blah Re the Chinese woman. Someone, can't remember if if was Nice Next Door Neighbour or Ken the shopkeeper, told Wattyyyy they'd seen a Chinese woman hanging about. So the CFNs became Barry and Chinese Julie. Chinese Julie hasn't been spotted since though.

BunloafAndCrumpets · 31/07/2017 13:18

OP what a massive stress! I've been trying to keep up but missed a couple of threads over the weekend. I've been scared of patio doors ever since we were burgled via them. We used to wrap a bike lock round the handles. A more attractive solution is this - am so sorry if it's been covered, I've really tried to RTFT Blush

Oh Wattyyyy what utter twunts those guys are!!! They know more than they are telling!!

Sending hugs and strength ... Try not to worry, your SpanGran will be here soon!

TheMadHugger the breakfast & beverages you posted look lush Grin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 31/07/2017 13:22

Actually thinking about, and I honestly can't believe I'm saying this, but could Ken be in on it? He's possibly, might have remembered wrong put OP on to Chinese Julie, who conveniently has never been seen since. Despite offering to keep a look out he never actually manages to see anything six builders arrive in two unmarked vehicles and he didn't see them? Come on people! And he keeps trying to ply OP with alcohol - a nice bottle of red on Saturday and now brandy! Highly, highly suspicious.

C8H10N4O2 · 31/07/2017 13:24

Fly by post - have winged various songs and rogues, decorative items etc across to the board between work stuff but somewhat hastily so please let us know if I missed or mislabelled anything.

Delighted to know that Dickie Wagner and G&S are sending appreciation for the filks.

Yes we probs want to split out some into subcategories and tart up labels.

OP Follow the advice from planning, stick your sodding great bench in front of those doors (moveable so not a planning issue), speak to house insurers about legal cover (its often included) and if you feel threatened then call for help. Flowers

And ask Abuela to make a big pot of comfort food before she whacks the CFFs with the paella pan!

BlahBlahSaidSquish · 31/07/2017 13:26

Thanks Judas

MadamePomfrey · 31/07/2017 13:26

I fairly sure it was ken the shop keeper who mentioned the Chinese lady and while his proven lovely his watch keeping skills don't seem to be his biggest strength.

While you want to make it difficult/impossible for them to access you garden without your permission, I don't think anything permanent/concrete is the way forward. 1) I think there is still a ton of rubble that is their responsibility to move! 2) however much you don't want them in the garden you want the door gone more anything permanently in place is counterproductive.

I do think some kind of cctv monitoring and recording anyone in the garden (not the CFF's house) would be a good idea for going forward with any kind of case.
