So my nails have fallen off and iv no idea why ? They have fell off twice before during pregnancy when my feet had swollen in some shoes but I literally have no idea why they have fell off now ? Do I need to get them properly checked out or just leave them open for air to get to them ? Shud I go to chemist and get dressings and tcp ? They are not sore and I was able to pulled them off without any pain at all . They were kind of half hanging on but just lifted off with ease . I'm not sure if one maybe infected so will post some pics .

Cuckingfunt1981 · 30/07/2017 12:00

Cuckingfunt1981 · 30/07/2017 12:00

Eww . They look sore . Did they go a funny colour before they came off ? Maybe a fungal infection ?

Cuckingfunt1981 · 30/07/2017 12:01

The only other times it has happened is when I have been pregnant so it's really odd ( fucking hope I'm not pregnant ??) . I took kids ice skating on Wednesday so was wondering whether the ice skates could do this ? However they didn't feel tight ?

Just a normal colour I think . I had pink nail polish on but underneath was normal clear nail colour

I'd get that looked at. Mines have come off before but when I've had trauma to the nail eg dropping a slab on it and the nail bed has been dry underneath not like that. It didn't hurt at all.

Well it did when I dropped the slab but not when the nail came off later!
That looks painful.

Sorry just realised it's lunchtime haha

Yeh it didn't hurt pulling off nail that was half left on and it's a funny kind of cringe feeling if I touch the nail bed (I cleaned it up as was pouring of blood )

Shock
garud · 30/07/2017 12:06

Ice skates very likely culprit.

Cuckingfunt1981 · 30/07/2017 12:08

Ouch just realised they are sore when summit touches them. 2 year old dropped her my little pony on one OUCH

I climbed goat fell once and my little toe nail came off one foot after that as one foot is slightly bigger abdxibthink it was the pressure coming back down hill.

Could be the skates.

Floggingmolly · 30/07/2017 12:12

That's not normal Shock. I'd get checked for diabetes if I were you.

FadedRed · 30/07/2017 12:12

It looks quite raw and wet, so a dressing would be best to prevent infection. Ask for a non adherent dressing like Mepetil (?sp), and an outer absorbent dressing.
An appointment to see your GP or a Podiatrist would be a good idea, your toenails should not be 'just falling off', you may have a fungal nail infection. Any history of trauma? Are you a regular runner or similar?
Also ask the HCP to check the nerves, it is unusual not to have pain with this level of toenail trauma.

Cuckingfunt1981 · 30/07/2017 12:31

You know the funny thing is now you mention diabetes for a week now iv been suffering an incredibly dry mouth to the point I can barely swallow and I'm exceptionally thirsty . The only relief I get of dry mouth is to drink and it's been driving me in sane because it takes me about 4 seconds to be able to swallow without a drink and iv been chugging back water by the gallon . Omg I thought the dry mouth was maybe just because of hot weather . It's not just a little bit dry it's my whole mouth and throats and I'm super thirsty . Gosh never even thought about diabetes but now I'm thinking it could be I'm a bit worried . I am 2 stone over weight also and am wearing size 14 tops and 16 bottoms where I used to always be slim . Iv had a terrible year depression wise and had zero energy or motivation so that's why iv puked on weight . I am disgusting

LimitedSedition · 30/07/2017 12:34

Woah there! You're not disgusting.

Did you have the diabetes checks when you were pregnant at all?

I would also consider calling 111 for some advice with regards to the thirst as that is quite worrying. Any other issues?

Freshprincess · 30/07/2017 12:34

Blimey, that looks awful and sore. I've lost a couple through running but when the nail falls off it looks nothing like that. It's dry, doesn't bleed and isn't at all sore.

Cuckingfunt1981 · 30/07/2017 12:35

Iv also developed thrush this week and it's first time in 13 years I have had it . Th last time I had it was during my second pregnancy in 2004 . It's so weird how I have developed all these things in the last week

Cuckingfunt1981 · 30/07/2017 12:39

Iv never had a diabetes check . All these symptoms have all happened over the past week or two . My dry mouth and thirst is the worst though as I never feel satisfied . My toenails literally just happened this morning. No pain nothing I just noticed that they looked raised so I lifted them off and they came off very easy xx

My experience of nails coming off sounds like princess, dry and not sore when touched afterwards. Get checked out, better safe than sorry.
