To think 60 minutes is too long to cook chicken in a bag?

Cooking Maggi barbecue chicken in a bag in the oven. Done it before but not for ages. Using 4 chicken breasts. Pack says it takes 60 minutes in the oven! Do I need to keep them in that long or will 40, 45 mins be ok? Cooking at 200° in fan oven as per packet instructions.

Do what it says on the packet.

I just cooked a chicken in the bag. It said it would take 1hr 47mins. I followed the instructions and it was perfect.

Just follow the instructions. Make sure you adjust temp if you have fan assisted though. My instructions only wanted 165 degrees for fan assisted.

Are the instructions for chicken breasts or a whole chicken? An hour seems a long time to cook chicken breasts for.

Isn't it 60 mins for a whole chicken and 35-40 mins for chicken breasts?

I was also going to say are you sure this isn't the time for chicken with bones eg thighs or a whole chicken as we have the garlic one regularly and only put it in for 35 with breasts or boneless thighs.

30-40 minutes for chicken breasts is what I'd do and I've never had a raw one!

Thanks. Will be in for at least 50 mins. now anyway to fit with timing for veg. Have a feeling Dilbert is onto something and I've read the instructions for boned meat. Pack's now in the outside bin so I'll have to double-check the instructions next time.

Yes about forty mins but obviously adjust the times if they are larger then average I like the garlic ones .

Ended up being 45 minutes in oven and 10 minutes resting on the side before served.

Was cooked through and delicious...and we wolfed it down. We've finished dinner now!

I always cooked them for 45 minutes, I found they were slightly off with the timings for a fan oven. If I was concerned, I'd pop it back in out of the bag for 15 minutes making sure to keep an eye on it and bast it with the sauce if I thought it might go dry. Never failed. Reminds me to pick some up now, thanks
