Late 90's, early 2000s.

British band (from the south) Punk/industrial/rock.

I am pretty sure the song title is 'Generation X'. Lyrics include 'Generation's grown up'

Have googled so much over the years. Only comes up with the old band Generation X.

If someone could find it for me I would be forever grateful.

Challenge accepted?

OP, do you know any of the other lyrics at all?

StealthPolarBear · 29/07/2017 22:15

Sorry that was meant to be reassuring rather than patronising!

99point9FahrenheitDegrees · 29/07/2017 22:26

Could it be something by Alanis Morissette Stealth ?

WeeM · 29/07/2017 22:28

@AlternativeTentacle could yours be SWV and Right Here? No idea about OPs sorry!

Wondermoomin · 29/07/2017 22:28

Stealthpolarbear it's not Blue Pearl Naked in the Rain is it?

FayKnights · 29/07/2017 22:32

I'm no help at all with your song I'm afraid OP, but hijacking to ask Flisspaps if she and Mr Flisspaps are thinking of either Imagination Movers or Big Time Rush?

StealthPolarBear · 29/07/2017 22:32

Not Alanis Morissette or blue pearl
But you are both on the right lines I think
Much more obscure... I keep thinking saint etienne which it obviously isn't. I used to watch it on 'the box' I think.
I'm desperate to know now

TheyDoItOnPurposeLynne · 29/07/2017 22:33

The Beaten Generation by The The comes to mind but I don't think there's a "grown up" line in it. I really hope you find it though!

WeeM · 29/07/2017 22:36

Shit I've tagged the wrong user sorry should have been stealthpolarbear and I've just looked at SWV video and I don't think it's them...water/cliff type things but no braids...epic fail on all fronts...as you were

GinIsIn · 29/07/2017 22:37

@StealthPolarBear I'm Like a Bird by Nelly Furtado?

BlackandWhitepostcards · 29/07/2017 22:37

Haven't a clue who sang it but didn't Pepsi have a song called Generation X on their adverts in the 90s?

Trickycat · 29/07/2017 22:41

I've got a tricky one. It was really catchy, went to no.1 but might have been a one hit wonder. Might have been 2009 to 2014. It was a man singing about women. It was quite rude but there was a tamer version for radio. The video had the band sitting about and women dancing. That's all I've got.

StealthPolarBear · 29/07/2017 22:41

Thank you but not swv or mell furtado
Overtones of earth song

dementedfraggle · 29/07/2017 22:41

Tricky is it Lloyd? His song dedication to my ex had 2 versions and is from 2012?

shirleythefamilyguy · 29/07/2017 22:50

I've always wanted to figure out a music video I remember seeing when I was young, I guess it must have been late 80s, very very early 90s perhaps - female artist, the video had (as far as I remember) a young girl who ended up in a sort of fantasy land. It was very appealing to a 6/7yo at the time! The closest I've come to is Madonna's Dear Jessie but I don't think it was that as I'm sure in the video the girl was outside, not in her bedroom (don't recall whether it was animated or not but in my memory it was live action).

Am racking my brains for you op but not coming up with anything although this is exactly the sort of thing I'd have been listening to right about then by the sounds of it!

StealthPolarBear · 29/07/2017 22:53

Frankie what is that?! Can't play it but looks hopeful

FrankiesKnuckle · 29/07/2017 22:53
